2.3.4 Firmware Update
A corresponding firmware file is necessary for each CISS applica-
tion. This file (*.cis) contains the binary data for the microcontrol-
ler in the CISS as well as for both the authentication and the check-
sums needed to guarantee that the firmware is updated correctly.
Perform the following steps to update the firmware:
• Connect the communication cable included in delivery to a PC
and the CISS. The PC detects the CISS as a mass storage device.
• Copy the firmware file (*.cis) directly (that means without a folder)
to the CISS. Use only firmware files provided by Bosch.
• Use the "Remove hardware safely" function and unplug the CISS
from the PC.
The firmware is updated automatically. If the update is successful,
the firmware file copied to the CISS mass storage device is renamed
to *.old. If the update is not successful, the firmware file is renamed
to *.err. If the firmware file is corrupt, the file extension is changed
to *.inv.
Disposal according to the WEEE Directive 2012/19/EU
The unit, accessories and packaging should be sorted for
environmental-friendly recycling. Do not dispose of the
device into household waste! According to the European
Guideline 2012/19/EU, electric and electronic devices
that are no longer usable must be collected separately and disposed
of in an environmentally correct manner.
