General notes
Water meters are precision instruments. Protect
■
against shock and vibration. Store frost-free.
The sealing surfaces are equipped with thread pro-
■
tection caps and thus protected from damage.
Check before beginning the installation:
■
–
sealing surfaces have to be flat and free from dam-
age such as notches, grooves, etc.
–
all of indication marks on the roller dial have to
be readable (Data regarding the flow rates are
depending on the respective nominal size)
–
meter has to fit in type, size, temperature and
pres-sure rating to the installation and metering
point
Please pay attention to the information on installa-
■
tion position on the dial.
By polluted or loaded water we recommend to
■
install filters or strainers in the inlet upstream of
the meter.
The meter should always be installed at the
■
lowest possible point of the piping as well as frost
protected to prevent the accumulation of air and
damages.
The water meter has to be installed into the
■
pipeline being free of any of mechanical forces or
tensions.
During the operating process water meter has to
■
becompletely filled with water.
The meter has to be protected with appropriate
■
measures against pressure shocks in the pipeline.
By risk of frost, empty completely and shut off the
■
installation (including the meter), if necessary,
dismount the meter.
The meter has always to be easily accessible and
■
legible, including all indications on the marking
ring or dial.
We recommend to ensure installation points on the
■
pipeline with a seal against unauthorized dismoun-
ting. The seal should not be removable or loosened
without visible damage.
The installation has to be carry out by qualified
■
personnel.
All series has been approved with a flow sensitivity

class U0/D0 (no inlet outlet section required).
All series are not approved for backflow measuring.
■
Installation:
1. Read this instruction carefully right up to the end!
2. Close stop valves upstream and downstream the
meter.
3. Discharge pressure at the installation point.
4. Dismantle existing meters or adjusting piece.
5. Use only new and flawless sealing material.
6. Check the sealing surface for damage.
7. Pay attention to correct flow direction while instal-
ling. Ensure that during the installation process the
gaskets do not slip, do not fall out, or are damaged.
8. Installation position:
–
RNK-RP-N / RNK-L-RP-N:
any installation position possible
–
RTKD / RTKDE / RTKD-L / RTKDE-L / RTKP:
any installation position possible except overhead
9. Screw the connection nuts and tighten them.
10. Open vales carefully to avoid pressure shocks.
11. Check installation point for leak tightness. The roller
dial and conformity /metrology indication marks
have to be visible and readable at any time.
Additional instructions for installation of plastic meter:
In order to guarantee a stress-free installation, we
■
recommend the use of a water meter installation
bracket (WZAG).
Recommended tightening torque for the connec-
■
tors: min. 20Nm up to max. 30Nm.
Additional instructions
Due to their construction, rotary piston water meters
■
cause running nois-es and these can be transmitted
via the installation pipes.
Increased mineral content in drinking water such as
■
Calcium or high lev-els of trace elements such as iron
or manganese can lead to deposits in the measuring
device and block the water meter.
The influence of foreign particles with a size > Ø 0.1mm
■
can also lead to a blockage.
The declaration of conformity is included in the delivery.
