6. Before initial use

Remove the rice cooker and all accessories from the packaging and check the completeness of the
delivery. Remove the protective film. Keep the packaging material away from children and dispose
of it in an environmentally-friendly manner.

7. Initial use

You can use the rice cooker to both cook rice and steam food. Experiment with different
types of food to find the right amount of water and cooking times.
The inner pot (12) features a scale ('L' for litre and 'CUP' for cups) designed to make
it easier for you to add the correct amount of water.
7.1 Initial use
Before using the rice cooker the first time, fill the inner pot (12) up to the '4 CUP' line and allow the
water to boil for approx. 30 minutes. Pour the water out, let the device cool down and then clean
the inner pot (12) as described in the 'Cleaning' section. You can now use the rice cooker.
Note on the scale on the inner pot (12):
If you are using a glass or container other than the measuring cup (13) that comes
with the device to fill the rice cooker, please use the litre (L) markings in the inner pot
(12) as a guide. If you want to make 0.6 litres of rice, for example, use a measuring
cup to measure out the required amount and pour the rice into the inner pot (12).
Then add water to the inner pot (12) until it reaches the 0.6 litre mark.
The scale inside the inner pot (12) therefore indicates the total amount of rice
water in the pot. For that reason, do not use the inner pot (12) to measure liquids or
food products since the scale is intended for the rice cooker only.

7.2 Preparing precooked rice

Precooked rice is available at shops and other retailers under names such as quick-
cook rice, instant rice and minute rice.
To achieve better results, we recommend that you apply a small amount of grease or
vegetable oil to the inside of the inner pot (12).
