damage the tailgate or the roofbox when opening the tailgate. 
Do not use tailgate remote operation in this case.

Secure the load with retaining straps
Make sure that:
the maximum load of the roofbox is never exceeded, even if the
permissible roof load has not yet been reached.
the load is evenly distributed, and the load's center of gravity
is as low as possible.
pointed or sharp-edged objects are carefully padded to protect
the retaining straps and the roofbox.
the load is secured with all 3 retaining straps and cannot slip
during the journey.
The load could otherwise come loose while driving, e.g. when
braking, and damage the roofbox.
1. Pull retaining straps (4) through eyelets (10) and lay the ends of
retaining straps (4) to the side.
2. Load roofbox (1).
3. Place retaining straps (4) over the load, route through the clasp and
pull tight.
4. Make sure the load is secure on all sides and re-tighten retaining
straps (4) as necessary.
Close the roofbox
Always keep the roofbox locked and remove the key when driving.
Note
The key can only be removed when the roofbox is closed and the key is
in the vertical position.
