We hope you enjoy using your new accessory.
Validity
These Installation Instructions for the roofbox are approved for
Mercedes-Benz vehicles with Mercedes-Benz basic carrier bars or basic

We recommend using Genuine Mercedes-Benz basic carrier bars or basic
carrier bars for rails as the roofbox has been tested for maximum safety

Installation notes
Each step of the Installation Instructions, as well as the warnings, general
safety information and notes provided, must be followed exactly.
If difficulties arise during installation, please contact a qualified specialist
workshop. Mercedes-Benz recommends that you use an authorized
Mercedes-Benz Center for this purpose.
The manufacturer reserves the right to change any of the technical
details shown in the illustrations of these Installation Instructions.
Depending on the width of the basic carrier bars or basic carrier bars for
rails, other products from the Mercedes-Benz portfolio can be installed in
addition to the roofbox, provided that the permissible roof load is observed.
Important safety notes
G
WARNING
The roof load increases the surface area exposed to the wind, which
also raises the vehicle's center of gravity, thus causing a change in
driving characteristics. For example, the additional weight on the roof
of the vehicle may impair braking performance, cornering ability and
the acceleration characteristics of the vehicle.
Therefore, do not exceed a top speed of 80 mph (130 km/h) even
with an unladen roofbox installed and always take extra precautions.
Always adapt your driving style to the prevailing road, traffic and
weather conditions and drive with particular care if the roof is laden.

approx. 34 inch (850 mm)
approx. 17 inch (440 mm)
G
WARNING
You must comply with the maximum load of the roofbox, the maximum
roof load and the permissible gross weight of the vehicle. Otherwise,
the roofbox and/or the basic carrier bars or basic carrier bars for rails
may come loose from the vehicle, resulting in injury to you and other
persons and/or damage to property, including your vehicle.
If the permissible gross weight is exceeded, then road safety is impaired
and driving characteristics, in addition to steering and braking
characteristics, can deteriorate considerably. Overloaded tires can
overheat and explode as a result. There is a risk of an accident.
When loading your vehicle, always adhere to its permissible gross
vehicle weight, including vehicle occupants.
Take note of the headroom!
After installing the roofbox on the vehicle, measure the overall
height of the vehicle from the ground to the top edge of the roofbox
and enter the overall height on sticker (3) with a waterproof
marker. Sticker (3) must be affixed in the vehicle interior so that it
is highly visible to the driver. Clean the suitable position with a
degreasing but non-aggressive cleaning agent. Follow the
instructions on the cleaning agent package.
For safety reasons, install the roofbox on the side facing away from the
traffic.
Do not transport people, animals, dangerous goods or similar items in the
roof box.
When transporting a load on the roof, observe national road traffic
licensing regulations and all relevant country-specific regulations.
Read and comply with the instruction labels on the inside of the roofbox.
Store the second key in a safe place. If you lose a key, a replacement key
can be ordered at a Mercedes-Benz Center. The key number is on the key
and on the lock.
General notes
The roofbox is splash-resistant. Mercedes-Benz recommends placing
loads that are sensitive to water in additional packaging.
Do not enter an automatic car wash with the roofbox installed.
For safety reasons, and in order to save fuel, the roofbox should be
removed from the vehicle when not in use.
Notes on care
To clean the roofbox, Mercedes-Benz recommends using the plastic
cleaning and care emulsion available at any Mercedes-Benz Center or
water mixed with commercially available car shampoo. Do not use
cleaning agents containing solvents.
Spray the locks at regular intervals with a multipurpose spray lubricant.
Installation
G
WARNING
Check that the roofbox and the basic carrier bars or basic carrier bars
for rails are securely attached before every journey and also during
long journeys. Repeat these checks at regular intervals depending on
the road surface conditions and at the latest after 1553 miles
(2500 km) of continuous use.
Do not use the roofbox if it is damaged or faulty. There is a risk of the
roofbox coming loose and thus injuring you or others and/or causing
material damage, including to your vehicle.
