handlebar post. Do not overtighten the
handlebar post screw or the bearing – this
can damage the balance bike and result
in personal injury.
Tightening sequence for handlebar
clips with 4 or 6 screws.
FIG. 2
5.
Check finally that all the handlebar post
screws are properly tightened.
SADDLE
1.
Undo the saddle clip nuts and lubricate
the threads with a few drops of oil.
2.
Push the thin end of the saddle post
into the saddle clip as far as it goes. The
saddle clip screw should be behind the
saddle post.
3.
Screw the saddle clip nut back on, loosely.
4.
Push the thick end of the saddle post
into the saddle tube on the fork until the
marking for the top position cannot be
seen.
5.
Angle the saddle so that its seat is
parallel to the ground. Align the toothing
on the saddle clip washers. Work the
tip of the saddle up and down until the
toothing aligns and the washers lock into
each other.
6.
Firmly tighten the saddle clips and saddle
post clips.
USE
ADJUSTING THE SADDLE HEIGHT
1.
Ask the child to straddle the saddle with
both feet on the ground.
2.
Adjust the height of the saddle so that the
top of the saddle is 3 to 5 cm lower than
the seat of the child and then tighten the
saddle post clip screw.

MOVING
One foot at a time
The first time the child uses the balance bike
the child should move the bike by pushing
forward with one foot and allowing the other
foot to slide forward without lifting it from the
ground. Moving is therefore accomplished
by alternately using the left and right feet,
without lifting them from the ground at the
same time.
With both feet
When the child has learned to balance it can
be encouraged to push forward with both feet
at the same time. The child can lift both feet
at the same time and allow them to swing
forwards and push away together.
BRAKING
Stretch both legs forward and press the
feet against the ground, so that the friction
between the feet and ground brakes the
balance bike.
MAINTENANCE
Check and if necessary retighten all the
screw unions at intervals of 1 to 2 weeks.
Check that none of the components are
severely worn or damaged, or are coming
loose/moved out of position.
HEAD BEARING
Check that the lock nut is tightened and
that there is no play in the bearing.
Check that the front fork turns freely
without resistance.
FRONT & BACK WHEELS
Check that the axle nuts are tightened.
