Technical description

The MPP solar charger offers the following func-
tions:
• MPP technology with high frequency switching
technology for maximum power point tracking
of the solar panel several times per second
• Microprocessor-controlled, temperature-com-
pensated IU0U charging programs for various
battery types
• Auxiliary charging terminal for the starting bat-
tery with reduced charging voltage and current
• Buffer operation: Compliance with the charging
characteristics even when the battery is charged
with consumers connected
• On-board mains suppression filter: Ensures par-
allel operation of the solar charger with other
charging sources, for example mains supply
chargers or generators.
• Automatic compensation of voltage loss caused
by the charging cable length (house battery)
• Dynamic conversion of excess solar panel volt-
age (max.50 V) into additional battery charging
current
• Measurement output for electroblock (EBL):
Enables showing the charging current of the
house battery on the vehicle's electroblock
when equipped with DT/LT display panels
• Terminal "AES/RE" (only MT MPP 260,
MT MPP 440): Transfers excess solar power to
small loads or automatic energy selector (AES)
capable refrigerators
• Output for remote displays LED I, LCD II or
LCD III.
The MPP solar charger has the following protective
mechanisms:
• High voltage and low voltage protection
• Deep discharge and overcharge protection
• High temperature protection
• Low temperature protection
• Protection against short circuit
• Protection against reverse polarity connected
solar modules and loads
• Reverse polarity protection for the house battery
• Battery overcharge protection
• Reverse current protection
• Built-in temperature controlled cooling fan (only
MT MPP 260, MT MPP 440)
The MPP solar charger can be adapted to different
battery types via DIP switches (chapter "Setting the
charging program" on page 15).
The temperature sensor monitors the battery tem-
perature during the charging process to control
and adjust the charging voltage accordingly (chap-
ter "Temperature sensor" on page 12).
