Connecting and Starting Up

Connecting to the air supply duct
The pneumatic grinding spindles / robot tooling are
clamped in the clamping device of the robot arm or
of an automatic system.
The pneumatic grinding spindles / robot tooling are
supplied with energy externally (compressed air)
via the robot interface or by the automatic system.
Only connect the compressed air
supply when the grinding tool
has been clamped in the collet
and the valve is switched off.
Inlet air for the grinding spindle
must be controlled externally
because there is no valve /switch
installed in the device.

Caution!
Trip hazard!
Lay compressed air lines outside
of the working area.
Only operate the compressed air devices with
clean, anhydrous air! Therefore, connect the
device to a maintenance unit equipped with a water
separator.
The maintenance unit should be installed as near
as possible to the grinder (see
grinder, see Fig. 3:
) .

Oil-lubricated grinder:
Prior to connection, blow through the
pressure hose to clear any soiling.
Connect the grinder (A) to the maintenance
unit (D1 - D3) together with the hose unit
(B) and one-hand coupling (C) (see Fig. 2:
) .

Mount the maintenance unit (D1 - D3) in
the following sequence: water separator
(D1) - pressure regulator (D2) - oil mister
(D3).
Set an operating pressure of max. 6 bar on
the maintenance unit. Check the oil level
and refill as necessary.
Adjust the maintenance unit so that 2-3
drops of oil per minute are added to the air.

Only pneumatic oil should be used (thin lubricating
oil). You can also order BIAX special oil using our
catalogue.
Oil-free grinder:
Oil-free grinders must always be operated with
water separators but without oil misters!
Prior to connection, blow through the
pressure hose to clear any soiling.
Connect the grinder (A) to the filter
pressure reducer (D) with water separator
together with the hose unit (B) and one-
hand coupling (C) (see Fig. 3:).
Set an operating pressure of max. 6 bar at
the filter pressure reducer.
Attention: Operating pressure of only max. 3.0
bar is permissible for the T 27-40!
Alternatively, a commercially available
maintenance unit can also be connected to
the filter pressure reducer. Do not fill any
oil into the oil mister when connecting!
