5.2 OPERATION

An electric fence consists of an electric fence energiser and an insulated fence, whereby the unit supplies
the fence with short electrical pulses. The electric fence is a „physical" and a „psychological" barrier for
animals. The short impulses with high voltage are very unpleasant and animals learn very quickly to
respect the electric fence.
A well installed electric fence can provide a high degree of security and offers many advantages compared
to a mechanical fence. As a psychological barrier, an electric shock can prevent the animal from crossing a
fence.
Labour and material costs are lower, it can be flexibly modified, is suitable for various animals and offers
a high level of protection against injuries.
The VOSS Power XXL energiser sends an electrical impulse through the fence approximately every second.
These impulses give the animal a short, sharp but safe shock, which does not endanger the health of the
animal, but is sufficient to remain constantly in the animal's mind so that it avoids the fence.
