Safety notes for installation in hazardous areas:
1) Install according to the manufacturer's instructions and other valid standards and guidelines.
2) The intrinsically safe circuit of the Micropilot FMR 23x is galvanically isolated from ground potential and has a dielectric
strength of 500 Vrms with respect to it.
3) The dependency of the permissible ambient temperature of the electronic housing upon the application and temperature
class is given in Tables 1 and 2.
4) If the housing is realigned, check that the locking screw is screwed tight again, see operating manual.
5) Special conditions (X Mark):
The level measurement transmitter Micropilot, type FMR 231 with fully isolated (white) PTFE antenna, has areas of
plastic, on which electrostatic charge can build up. A label warns of this danger:
The special conditions do not apply to Zone 1 applications involving Material Groups IIA and IIB, when the FMR 231 used is
of the type:
– short PTFE antenna (length 390 mm) with metal threaded connection or unclad flange.
– short PTFE antenna (length 390 mm) with clad flange of nominal diameter ≤ DN 100 (≤ ANSI 4", ≤ 100K).
Note:
6) The type of protection changes as follows when the level measurement transmitter Micropilot FMR 23x is connected to
certified intrinsically safe circuits of Category ib for Group IIC or IIB: EEx ib IIC T6 or EEx ib IIB T6.
The antenna may not be operated in Zone 0 if the transmitter is connected to an intrinsically circuit of Category ib.
6.1) The pertinent guidelines must be observed when instrinsically safe circuits are connected together (EN 60 079-14);
(Verification of intrinsic safety)
(e.g. when using the Commubox FXA 191, the handheld terminal DXR 275 or other certified apparatus).
7) Option Overvoltage protection HAW 262 Z, see Fig. 2
– The external overvoltage protector and the transmitter are to be connected to the local equipotential bonding system.
– Potentials must be equalised both inside and outside the explosion hazardous area.
– The cable connecting the overvoltage protector and the transmitter shall not exceed 1 m in length.
– It shall be protected, e.g. routed in an armoured hose.
– The equipotential bonding shall be minimum 4 mm² copper.
