CABLE BREAK DETECTION
Cable break detection is determined for non-contact detection of cable
breaks on non-exposed, current-carrying lines.
Set the selector switch to the function CABLE BREAK DETECTION.
If the sensor
a current-carrying line (100 - 300 V AC) at the supply point whilst the "M"
button is pressed, the display flashes and a signal sounds upstream of the
break point.
If the display does not flash whilst carrying out the cable break detection and
no signal is emitted, a hazardous high voltage (>33 V AC or 70 V DC) can
nevertheless be present. The non.contact sensor can only detect voltage
that is generated due to sufficiently strong voltage fields (electricity grid,
>100 V AC). For weaker field strengths, it is possible that the device does
not detect the voltage applied and, thus, cannot correctly locate the cable
break. If the device does not detect a voltage, it can, amongst other things,
be a result of the following factors:

Thickness and type of insulation
|
Distance from the source of voltage

Be careful with voltages of more than 30 V, because there is
a risk of electric shock.
Caution!
The function for non-contact detection of cable breaks is not
suitable for the detection of hazardous mains voltage.
Attention!
Before touching current-carrying parts, using direct, two-pole
contact measurement of the AC current range, check that no
hazardous voltage is applied.
