11. Power measurement

Important
• Always replace the protective covers when finished working. This will protect against
accidental discharge from the laser, scratches, dust, and moisture from entering.
• Only use standard adapters.
• Make sure the components you connect are clean and free of dust.
• Use care when attaching and removing connections to prevent scratches.

a) Absolute power measurement

1. Switch the power on.
2. Set the correct wavelength.
Press repeatedly to cycle through 8 calibrated laser wavelengths (nm):
850, 980,1300, 1310, 1490,1550, 1625, 1650
4. Connect the cable from the optical laser source to the power meter input. Use the ST adaptor
if needed.
The absolute optical power measured will show as follows:
- Linear value (mW, μW, nW)
- Non-linear value (dBm)
