10. Taking measurements

In order to obtain precise readings, the measuring device must be adjusted to the ambient
temperature. Allow the device to adjust to the ambient temperature after relocation.
The electrode must also be adapted to the measuring medium. Before each pH measurement and
before each calibration, temperature compensation must be performed.
There are two measurement functions to choose from. After switching on, the pH measurement is always active.

a) pH measurement

Follow the steps below to take a measurement:
• Connect the electrode to the measuring device and turn on the measuring device. Select the measuring function
"PH".
• Perform calibration/temperature compensation prior to pH measurement, if required.
• Immerse the electrode in the solution to be measured. Stir the electrode gently in the solution until the reading
stabilizes. This flows around the electrode and speeds up the measuring process. If the "automatic temperature
compensation" option is used, the temperature sensor must be immersed in the liquid.
• During the measurement, the probe must be lapped by the liquid. This can be achieved by permanently stirring
the probe.
• For laboratory measurements, it is recommended that you use a magnetic stirrer to ensure a specific flow rate. This
helps reduce measurement errors to a minimum.
• The reading for the pH is shown in the upper display line.
• The reading for the temperature of the measured liquid is shown in the lower display line.
• Rinse the probe thoroughly with distilled water after each use.
• Dry the probe with a soft, absorbent and lint-free cloth and insert the electrode into the moisture container.
• After you finish testing, always switch the measuring device off.
