5. Operation

DANGER
Every time before operating the tandem trolleys, the
operator and all involved persons must read and under-
stand these operating instructions. The general safety
instructions must be observed; see page 29. Otherwise,
injuries or even fatal accidents can result from incorrect
operation. All instructions related to lifting also apply
analogously to lowering of a load.
DANGER
The total weight of the load to be lifted and moved and
the position of the centre of gravity must be known
before the lifting and movement operation. The weight
of the load must not be greater than the permitted
carrying capacity of the trolleys. Otherwise, tipping or
slipping can lead to injuries or even to fatal accidents.

5.1 Weight determination

Refer to the nameplate for the total weight of the load.

5.2 Determining the centre of gravity

5.2.1 Selection of suitable jack

NOTE
To lift the load safely, it is recommended to use hydrau-
lic JUNG jacks. The operating instructions for jacks must
be observed for correct selection and operation.
The following formula can be used for the selection
of the appropriate jack with a sufficient load-bearing
capacity:
Minimum load of the jack = (the load to be lifted in
kg) x (safety factor of 1.25)
Example:
4000 kg x 1,25 = 5000 kg.
The jack must have a load-bearing capacity of 5000 kg.

5.2.2 Determining the centre of gravity
WARNING
The use of multiple jacks with different load-bearing
capacities is not permissible due to safety reasons.
If several jacks are used which have the same load-
bearing capacity, they must be placed under the load
such that each jack is subjected to the same share
of the load to be lifted. The centre of gravity must be
determined to do this.
To determine the centre of gravity, use
the pressure gauge accessory for jacks.
