Never make changes, additions and alterations to the brake without the manufacturer's approval. If any
changes are made to the brake that affect safety, they must be reported to Stromag immediately.
•
Only use genuine spare parts.
•
Through suitable, technical measures, such as the use of a pressure limiting valve, ensure that the brake
can never be operated outside of the permitted pressure range.
2.12 Safe handling of suspended loads
The following safety guidelines must always be observed when handling suspended loads:
•
Wear personal protective equipment.
•
Observe any instructions on the packing pieces.
•
When transporting, only use approved lifting tool, industrial trucks and suitable slinging equipment with suffi-
cient load-bearing capacity.
•
Ensure that the slinging equipment is positioned correctly.
•
Do not hook the slinging equipment onto components of the machine that protrude or in the eyes of attached
components.
•
Never use torn or worn ropes or belts.
•
Do not position ropes and belts on sharp edges, do not knot or twist them.
•
Never stand under suspended loads.
2.13 Safe handling of rotating components
The following safety guidelines must always be observed when handling rotating components:
•
Before commencing work, shut down the complete machine and secure it from switching back on.
•
Never operate the complete machine without a safety guard or a housing on the rotating parts.
•
After inspection and maintenance work, reinstall the safety guard or housing.
2.14 Safe handling with hazards from pressurised media
The following safety guidelines must always be observed when dealing with hazards posed by pressurised me-
dia.
•
Observe the safety data sheets of the pressurised mediums used.
•
Before opening the pneumatic/hydraulic system, use suitable measures to ensure that escaping operating
fluid is collected and disposed of correctly or that the operating fluid is prevented from escaping by blocking
the lines.
•
Check the pneumatic/hydraulic system for leaks and visible external damage on a regular basis. Repair any
damage immediately.
•
Before commencing work, shut down the complete machine and secure it from switching back on. Then de-
pressurise the pneumatic/hydraulic system. Any remaining pressure should always be released slowly and
carefully.
2.15 Safe handling with hot surfaces
The following safety guidelines must always be observed when dealing with hot surfaces:
•
Before commencing any work, first allow the hot surfaces to cool down.
