Introduction

1.1

About this documentation

For the purpose of simplification, the following designations are used in the mounting instructions.
• Stromag GmbH will hereafter be referred to as Stromag.
• The mounting instructions will hereafter be referred to as documentation.
• The pressure-operated spring-actuated multi-disc brake KMB-ZM, KLB-ZM will hereafter be referred to as
brake.
Stromag would like to emphasise that users should refer to the dimensional drawing for all technical details, in-
cluding: dimensions, weights, tolerances, tightening torques, and any other technical specifications and units re-
quired for assembly, such as securing equipment and lubricants.
Should this information be necessary during assembly, a corresponding point in these mounting instructions will
refer to the dimensional drawing.
A dimensional drawing is supplied as a separate document and can also be requested from Stromag's Custom-
er Care, see section 11.2. For this, the information on ordering spare parts is required, see section 11.1.
The figures in this documentation do not necessarily reflect the actual delivery state. If features for particular
type series or delivery states should be observed, special reference will be made to this. The exact figure can
be obtained from the dimensional drawing, see section 4.3.
This documentation makes it easier for the operator to familiarise himself with the brake and to use it as inten-
ded.
The documentation contains important instructions on how to operate the brake safely, properly and economi-
cally. Observing the documentation helps to avoid dangers, to reduce repair costs and down times and to in-
crease the reliability as well as the operating life of the brake. Read the documentation carefully and thoroughly.

Target group

The documentation is limited to use by qualified as well as trained personnel.
The documentation must be read and applied by every person that is assigned with performing at least one of
the following tasks:
• transport,
• assembly,
• use,
• maintenance and inspections,
• troubleshooting,
• disassembly,
• disposal of operating and auxiliary materials.

Use/storage

This documentation must always be kept to hand at the operation location of the brake. The documentation
must then be integrated into the overall documentation of the complete machine and into the safety concept.
When selling the brake, the documentation must also be passed on.
