To protect the brake from undue pressure peaks, a pressure limiting valve must be fitted. Place the pressure
gauge as close to the brake as possible.
The manufacturer of the complete machine is responsible for the planning, design and installation of supply
lines. The guidelines in accordance with DIN EN ISO 4413 and DIN EN ISO 4414 must be considered, see
section 2.5. The pressurised medium supply is the responsibility of the operator, and must comply with the local
safety regulations.
2.3.2

Torque transmission

The torque from the drive shaft is introduced to the inner body via a splined shaft or parallel key connection. The
torque is forwarded from the disc pack over the outer body into the flange-mounted gearbox or machine housing
via a screw/pin connection.
In all cases, the transmission of the maximum occurring torque to the connecting parts must be checked mathe-
matically by the operator/planner of the drive equipment. The interference fit and frictional connections must cor-
respond to the latest technical specifications and be of the sufficient dimensions.
Standard limit values in mechanical engineering must be considered for mathematical verification.
2.3.3

Application limits

The application limits can be obtained from the technical data, see section 4, as well as from the dimensional
drawing of the respective order, see section 4.3.
2.3.4

Use in potentially explosive atmospheres

There is a fire or explosion risk when operating the brake in potentially explosive atmospheres. The brake may
not be used in potentially explosive areas.
Please contact Stromag Customer Care if you have any questions concerning the application limits.
2.4

Non-intended use

Any use other than the intended use of the brake may lead to dangerous situations.
Only use the brake for its intended use in accordance with the details in this documentation, especially in
observing the application limits given in the technical specifications.
Reconstruction, retrofitting or modification of the construction or individual equipment parts, with the aim of
changing the application range or the usability of the brake, should be avoided.
Using the brake in potentially explosive areas, although the brake must not be operated in potentially explo-
sive areas.
Use of the brake beyond the permitted operating values, see section technical specifications or section 4.3
dimensional drawing.
Claims for any damage that results from non-intended use are exempted. The operator bears sole responsibility
for damage caused by non-intended use.
2.5

Standards applied

Details of other national standards are referenced within the documentation. This applies especially to the as-
sembly. DIN standards can be purchased from DIN Deutsches Institut für Normung e. V. (the German Institute
for Standardization), http://www.din.de.
Please contact Stromag's Customer Care for any questions concerning the contents and application.
2.6

Possible residual risks

Residual risks are particular dangers that cannot be eliminated when using the brake, despite its safety-orienta-
ted construction.
Residual risks are not obviously recognisable and could be the source of a possible injury or health risk.
