installation. Once entered the license key will be permanently stored in the Control Unit. This allows to easily swap a
Control Unit and does not link the system to a specific computer.

4.6 Preparing the Unity 2 system for use

The Unity 2 system comes with appropriate defaults for all tests and functions. This enables the user to immediately
start work safely. The default values are partly adapted to country specific values, which are determined by choosing
the country name during the installation procedure.
In case of changes to the pre-set default values or the keyboard hot-keys, the changes are stored permanently in the
current active user profile only. This allows actively exporting customized settings to other Unity 2 systems and requires
making all the changes to a master system only. The software reference book explains the use of the user specific con-
figurations more in detail.

4.6.1 Export Audiometer and keyboard mapping to functions

The currently active user profile (configuration) for the Audiometer and the keyboard mapping will be automatically
stored in a file once the application is closed. The configuration file is named <username>_export.xml and can be
found in the directory C:\unity\u6app\export. The entry <username> is identical to the Windows-username which is
required to access the computer. The export-file will be overwritten any time the application is closed.

4.6.2 Import Audiometer and keyboard mapping functions

To import Audiometer and keyboard settings from another system (e.g. from the master system) copy the <username>_
export.xml file from the master system to the folder C:\unity\u6app\export of the client system and rename it to
import.xml.
With the next start of the application software the settings will be loaded into the configuration memory of the client
system automatically. Importing of particular parts of the configuration is possible once selected in the selection dialog.
Non-selected parts of the configuration will not be overwritten.
After import of the configuration the import.xml file will be renamed to import.bak to block overwriting of the config-
uration settings with the next start up.

4.7 Applied parts

No applied parts employed within the Unity 2 system have been part of the evaluation regarding
IEC 60601-1:2005 safety standard.
The following parts, are applied parts
• Any Audiometric transducer connected to the system (see section 4.7.1)
• Patient response switch (PN 087 85 912)
• Insitu-headset (Real Ear Measurement headset) and accessories thereof (PN 087 86 001)

4.7.1 Audiometric Transducers used with the system

All audiometric transducers and free field speakers require proper calibration for all frequencies and
signals provided by the system. Without calibration the signal output for the particular transducer and
signal will be blocked for security reasons.
Depending on the delivery package the following transducers will be supplied:
• Telephonics TDH 39 (125 Hz – 8000 Hz) headphone
• Interacoustics DD 45 (125 Hz – 8000 Hz) headphone
• Sennheiser HDA 200 (125 Hz – 16000 Hz) headphone
• Ethymotic Research Eartone ER 3A (125 – 8000 Hz) insert phone
• Ethymotic Research Eartone ER-5A (125 Hz – 8000 Hz) insert phone
• Radio Ear B 71 (250 Hz – 8000 Hz) bone conductor
