7. Starting, operation
Connect the shield to ground exclusively in safe (i.e. non-hazardous) areas
in accordance with EN 60079-14. Ensure that with flying leads the shield is
always connected to ground on the instrument side by the manufacturer.
Warning
Contact the potential equalization to the enclosure of the transmitter using
the pressure port.
Supply the pressure transmitter from a galvanically isolating power supply unit.
Attempting to remove the cable connection will damage the transmitter and void the
factory warranty and approval.
Cover flying leads with fine wires by an end splice (cable preparation).
Installing with conduit use only threads NPT 1/2" according ANSI/ASME B1.20.1.
Screw them together with a minimum of 4 turns.
Either connect the flying lead outside of the hazardous location only or use terminal boxes
in explosion-proof designs (e.g. with flameproof enclosure Ex "d" or increased safety Ex
"e" classification).
Consider that cables for use in zones 1 and 2 must be checked with a test voltage
between conductor/earth, conductor/screen, screen/earth of more than 500V (AC).
Operate the pressure transmitter with a shielded cable and earth the shield at least on
one side of the cable, if the cable is longer than 30m (2-wire) or 3m (3- or 4-wire), or if
it is run outside of the building.
Ingress protection per IEC 60529 (The ingress protection classes specified only apply
while the pressure transmitter is connected with female connectors that provide the
corresponding ingress protection).
Please make sure that the ends of cables with flying leads do not allow any ingress of
moisture.
