INTRODUCTION
Thank you for choosing a high quality product from Össur. Please carefully
review and follow these instructions before fitting a patient with the Össur brim
or accessory products. Remember that informing the patient concerning proper
handling and care of the product, as set forth in these instructions, is important
to achieve patient comfort and maximum product life.
INDICATION
The Össur brim is tested and validated for exoskeletal prosthetic fittings of lower
extremity amputations.
Note: Össur does not recommend prescribing an Össur brim for amputees that
do not have sufficient hand strength to don the device properly, and/ or do not
have a caregiver to assist with donning.
MATERIALS:
The Össur brim is made out of polymerized elastomers.
DONNING THE ÖSSUR BRIM:
1. Fold the proximal part of the Össur brim (Figure 1)
2. Step into the socket wearing the liner until fully engaged
3. Fold the proximal part back to its neutral position
PROSTHETIC SOCKS
If the amputee experiences insecurity or decreased contact with the socket due to
volume fluctuations, one or more ICEROSS Socks can be added to restore the
socket fit.
LIABILITY
The manufacturer recommends using the device only under the specified
conditions and for the intended purposes. The device must be
maintained according to the instructions for use. The manufacturer is
not liable for damage caused by component combinations that were not
authorized by the manufacturer.
DAILY CARE
Proper product care is important. The Össur brim needs to be washed on a
regular basis with ICEROSS Clean & Simple soap. After washing, rinse the Össur
brim thoroughly with lukewarm water and pat dry on both sides with a lint-free
cloth. The Össur brim can be used immediately after cleaning. Always return the
Össur brim to its neutral state while the prosthesis is not in use, and after
cleaning.
The Össur brim should always be checked for damage and wear. Any damage
may weaken the effectiveness of the Össur brim and should be reported to the
user's prosthetist immediately. Misuse may result in potential loss of function.
WARRANTY
Össur offers a 3 month limited warranty on the Össur brim from the invoice
date.
