1. Safety

1.1 Hazards from the automatic scrubber
The automatic scrubber is a state-of-the-art
fabrication in accordance with recognized
technical safety regulations. Hazards to
persons and impairment of the equipment and
other articles can however arise from improper
use. Attention shall be paid to other persons,
and to children in particular when working with
the unit.
1.2 Safety designations in this operating
manual
The safety instructions in this manual are
designated as follows:
Danger !
designates an immediate threat of
danger. Death or serious injury may
result if this hazard is not avoided.
Caution !
designates a potential danger. Injury
may result if this hazard is not
avoided.
Important !
designates urgent hints and infor-
mations. Injury on objects may
result if this hazard is not avoided.
1.3 Safety instructions for battery-powered
models
The safety and accident prevention regulations
for the treatment and installation of batteries
shall be observed. Verify that the operating
instructions and/or treatment procedures from
the battery manufacturer are available. These
instructions must be observed in all cases. Prior
to charging the battery, check the battery and
charging cable and replace if necessary. Smo-
king is prohibited during charging of the
battery. Avoid naked flames, sparks or glowing-
hot objects. All hollows (covers, hoods) capable
of accommodating electrolytic gases must be
vented. Ventilate the room well - highly-explo-
sive electrolytic gases are generated during
battery charging. Fire equipment must be easily
accessible. Eating and smoking in battery-
charging rooms is prohibited. After completion
of work on the batteries, wash hands
thoroughly. Do not touch or spill battery acid.
Do not place any metallic parts on top of the
battery due to risks of shorting and fire hazards.
1.4 Safety instructions for mains-powered
models
Ensure that the mains leads are not damaged
due to pinching, pulling, chaffing or similar.
The mains connection leads shall be inspected
regularly for damage, blank areas, burns and
similar.
Remove the plug from the mains socket prior
to performing care and maintenance work on
the machinery, or replacement of accessories.
The technical data prescribed by the
manufacturer must be observed and only ori-
ginal spare parts used for the replacement of
the mains connection lead, plugs, couplings,
fuses or sockets.

1.5 Use according to regulations
All automatic scrubbers of model series RA
are intended for the wet cleaning of water-resi-
stent floor coverings in the interiors of buildings
by using scrubbing brushes, scrubbing pads
and equipment jets. They can also be used for
the suction removal of dirty water using
equipment jets or separate manual suction
systems, as well as for the polishing of hard
floor surfaces using polishing brushes/
polishing pads. Any application beyond these
uses is considered as being not in accordance
with regulations. The manufacturer will not be
liable for any damage which thereby results;
the risk is borne sole by the user. The use
according to regulations also includes the
compliance with the conditions of the
manufacturer for operation, service and main-
tenance. The equipment shall be operated,
serviced and maintained by appropriately
qualified persons only and who are informed
of the associated hazards. The pertinent
accident prevention regulations as well as other
generally recognized safety engineering and
occupational medicine regulations must be
observed. Any unauthorized alterations to the
equipment will exclude the manufacturer from
liability for any damage thereby resulting.
1.6 Product Liability
The explicit attention of the operator is drawn
to the models only being used for intended
applications as specified. In the event of the
equipment not being used for the intention
specified, this shall be at the sole responsibility
of the user. All liability by the manufacturer
shall then be waived.

1.7 Sources of hazards
The brushing fixture must be switched off
immediately when the equipment is at a
standstill to avoid any damage to the flooring
surface. Drive with care over thresholds and
ledges - this could cause damage to the wheels
and squeegee blades. Ensure that the brushing
fixture and squeegee is in a raised position. The
unit is intended only for use on flat surfaces or
gradients of max. 2 %. For transportation in
elevators, the pertinent applicable user
instructions and safety regulations, in particular
concerning the loading capacity, must be ob-
served. Observe doorway widths. Detach
squeegee if required. Secure the unit using the
parking brake.
1.8 Workplace
The workplace is located behind the automatic-
scrubber at the operating console.
1.9 Approved servicing personnel
The automatic scrubber must be serviced and
maintained by qualified and authorized
personnel only.
1.10 Procedure in cases of emergency
Release the combination switch, the motion and
brushing drives switches off immediately.
Pull out the mains plug for the cable version.
