– Only use completely cooled down heat shrinking toolhol
ders!
Before reshrinking, the toolholder has to be cooled down
to room temperature! Do not heaten the shrinking area
higher than 500 °C.
– The maximum speed has to be reduced, if longer, over
hanging or heavy tools and extensions are used.
The amount of reduction can be individually deter mined
and is up to the operators responsibility.
In case of special designs, deviating indications on the
drawings have to be considered.
– If the minimum clamping depth is not met, there will be a
loss of accuracy, the maximum admissible torque will be
reduced, and the toolholder can be damaged.
– The balancing quality can change due to the use of long,
overhanging or heavy tools and extensions. The amount of
change has to be individually adjusted to the application,
and is in the responsability of the operator.
– Additional bores, threads or attachments, which are not
offered as a SCHUNK accessory, may only be used subject
to written confirmation from SCHUNK GmbH & Co. KG.
– The axial length adjustment is carried out with an allen key
via the length adjustment screw. The adjustment range
amounts to 10 mm.
Never actuate the length adjustment screw with clamped
tools.

1. Warranty
The warranty period is 24 months after delivery date from
factory assuming appropriate use and respecting the recom-
mended operating and maintenance regulations. Basically
tool and machine contacting components, and wear parts
(actuation screw and seal) are not part of the warranty.
2. Safety instructions
2.1 Notes on particular risks
WARNING
When using the CELSIO Heat shrinking chuck, there is a risk
of injury due to ejected parts.
• Use the CELSIO Heat shrinking chuck only as intended.
• Take appropriate protective measures to secure the
danger zone.
• Observe the minimum clamping depth.
• If longer, overhanging or heavy tools and extensions
are used, reduce the maximum speed of the machine/
system.
CAUTION
Risk of injury from tools with sharp edges.
• Wear suitable gloves for tool change.
3. Usable shank types
Tools with a plain straight shank according to DIN 6535,
shank form HA up to diam. 32, and with recesses according to
DIN 1835, form B, E and DIN 6535 form HB, HE can be directly
clamped.
Shanks with recesses impede the balancing quality,
clamping force and runout accuracy of the whole
system.
Type A with straight cylindrical shank. Cylindrical shank
according to DIN 6535 HA and type A according to DIN 1835
part 1
Type AB with one Weldon flat. Cylinder shank type B
according to DIN 1835 part 1 and DIN 6535 HB
with two Weldon flats. Cylinder shank type B
Type B
according to DIN 1835 part 1
Type E
with Whistle-Notch flat. Cylinder shank type E
according to DIN 1835 part 1 and DIN 6535 HE
4. Clamping/Unclamping
– The tool must be burr- and dirt-free.
– Always respect the minimum clamping depth when
inserting the tool.

WARNING
Danger of burns during heating and after heating!
The temperature in the shrinking area amounts up to
450 °C. Hot combustion gases may form.
• Always wear ISO protective gloves and safety glasses!
• Therefore please follow the instructions of the heat
shrinking manufacturer.
2.2 Proper use
SCHUNK CELSIO shrinking chucks are designed for clamping
rotation-symmetrical tools or workpieces.
– This product may only be used within the guidelines of its
technical specifications (see chapter 5).
– The product is intended for industrial and industry-oriented
use.
2.3 Not intended use
Use of the CELSIO shrinking chuck other than as intended
includes for instance:
– Exceeding the specified technical data during use.
– If the used CELSIO shrinking chuck is not ompletely cooled
down.
2.4 Notes on safe operation
– Tool clamping and insertion into the machine has to be done
by technically qualified personnel only.
3
Shrinking Process:
1. Clean the tool shank and the locating bore and inspect
them on damage (do not insert damaged components).
2. Preadjust the tool length by turning the length
adjustment screw with an allen key. The length adjustment
screw is secured against falling out!
3. Heat the tool clamping range of the heat shrinking tool-
holder with a suitable shrinking unit. Now the tool's
mounting bore widens.
4. Insert the tool shank up to the length adjustment screw.
5. Cool down the heat shrinking toolholder with the tool
now.
Heat shrinking:
1. Heat the tool clamping range of the shrinking toolholder
together with the tool with a suitable shrinking unit.
The tool's mounting hole widens now.
2. Remove the tool.
3. Cool down the shrinking toolholder and the tool.
Never combine several extensions (e.g. TENDO SVL) with
each other.
For shrinking and heat shrinking of carbide and HSS tools
special designed shrinking units have to be used.

6. Storage and Care
– Lightly lubricate the whole surface of the heat shrinking
chuck before storage.
– The locating bore and the taper have to be cleaned before
use.
– Control of torque and control of the toolholder on
damage should be done at SCHUNK.
7. Accessories
Length adjustment screws and sets of balancing screws can be
ordered separately (see our current catalog).
