C. ACCU-FLO Barium Flanged Ventricular
Catheter, catalog no. 82-1212
The 15 cm ACCU-FLO Barium Flanged
Ventricular Catheter is X-ray detectable
throughout with X-ray detectable tantalum
markings 5 cm and 10 cm from the proximal
end. The proximal tip is equipped with 8 inlet
holes, two rows of four holes, 180° apart, and
nine flanges, five full and four split, to fold
over the inlet holes during catheter insertion.
The split flanges over the midline of the
holes help strain fluid and particulate. The
flanges help prevent the catheter from Iying
flat against the ventricular wall. Included with
the ACCU-FLO Barium Flanged Ventricular
catheter is a sterile stainless steel stylet.
D. ACCU-FLO Dotted Ventricular Catheter,
catalog no. 82-1221
The ACCU-FLO Dotted Ventricular Catheter
is a 15 cm length of clear silicone tubing with
a rounded X-ray detectable tantalum proximal
tip and X-ray detectable tantalum markings
located every 1 cm. The proximal end of the
catheter is supplied with 40 inlet holes, four
rows of ten holes, 90° apart. The ACCU-FLO
Dotted Ventricular Catheter is packaged with
a sterile stainless steel stylet.

Contraindications

This device is not designed, sold, or intended
for use except as indicated.
Use of this device is contraindicated if scalp
or systemic infection is present.
It is contraindicated in patients receiving
anticoagulants or who are known to have
a bleeding diathesis.
Complications
Particulate matter such as blood clots,
brain fragments, or other tissue particles
may obstruct the ACCU-FLO Ventricular
Catheter; also, the ventricular catheter may
become obstructed by excessive reduction
of ventricular size to slit-like proportions.
The ventricular catheter may be withdrawn
from, or lost in, the lateral ventricles of
the brain if it becomes detached from
the shunting system.
