OPERATION

Cleaning

During routine pumping cycles, the pump is started and
stopped by the primary level control system. However, on
a preselected number of cycles each 24 hours, the APF-
Cleaner overrides the normal control sequence to initiate
a "cleaning" cycle.
After the preselected period, the APF-Cleaner waits for
the primary level control system to start the pump. The
APF-Cleaner system detects this by means of a current
transformer and closes its output relay in parallel with that
of the ordinary control system. The APF-Cleaner system
keeps its relay closed even after the ordinary control
system has opened its relay, and pumping can then
continue until the impeller begins to draw air.

Number of cleaning cycles per 24 HRS:

- can be preset on the front of the APF-Cleaner to 0, 1, 3,
5, 10, 15, 25 or 40 times per 24 hours (Fig. 2).

A small screwdriver can be used for setting the number
of "Cleaning cycles/24 h" (see Fig. 2).

Stop functions

When the water in the sump has dropped to such a low
level that the pump begins to draw air, the motor current
will drop. The APF-Cleaner system detects this and stops
the pump.
The APF-Cleaner system measures the normal
operating current of each pump during routine pumping
cycles, by means of dedicated current transformers.
These current values are stored in the processor memory
and serve as reference values.

Forced cleaning

When the push-button marked "Clean"/Set Iref is briefly
depressed, the adjacent LED will light up as confirmation
that cleaning will be carried out the next time the pump
starts.
