Safety notes

1. General
An incorrectly installed seat can pose a significant risk to
health, life and safety in the event of an accident.
Follow these installation instructions, especially the
safety instructions.
Keep these installation instructions for as long as the
seat is being used.
Keep the installation instructions accessible to spe-
cialist staff at all times.
2. Correct use
The consoles may only be used for installation into the
vehicles that are listed on the title page. See also "area
of use" in the aBE of the RECaRO seat.

3. Staff qualification

Only trained specialists may install and remove seats.
Special requirements apply in the following cases:
• Electrical connections: May only be carried out by a
professional electrician.
• Vehicles with side airbag and/or pyrotechnic belt ten-
sioners:
Staff of an authorised specialist workshop. The staff
must be trained in accordance with the German
Explosives act.
4. Structural alterations
Structural alterations to the seat, adaptation or vehicle
floor assembly and the use of unapproved components
can jeopardise safety.
Besides the exclusion of liability, this will also result in
the warranty becoming null and void.
When installing the RECaRO seat, use only original
components from RECaRO.
do not modify the seat.
5. Residual risks
5.1. Electric shock and fire hazard
damaged electric cables can cause an electric shock.
Ensure that the connecting cables are in perfect con-
dition and cannot be damaged when the seat rails are
moved back and forth.
Short circuits can cause a fire.
Make sure that the electrical connections are made
correctly.
5.2. Risk of breakage
The supplied micro-encapsulated screws can break if
they are reused multiple times. in some circumstances
this can cause the seat to become detached in the event
of an accident.
use the supplied micro-encapsulated screws only
once.
5.3. Unwanted triggering of airbags and belt
tensioners
unwanted triggering of airbags and belt tensioners can
cause parts to fly out and injure people.
Capacitors can cause triggering even after the battery
has been disconnected.
Take the following precautions before removing the
standard seat:
4. Remove the ignition key.
5. disconnect the negative terminal at the battery.
6. Wait for 20 minutes until the capacitors have dis-
charged.
The battery must not be connected and the ignition must
not be switched on until after the seat conversion has
been completed.
5.4. Failure of the seat occupancy detector
a seat occupancy detector on the passenger side can
cause malfunctions in the restraint systems device after
the RECaRO seat has been installed.
Before installing the RECaRO seat, deactivate the
seat occupancy detector in accordance with the vehi-
cle manufacturer's instructions.
if deactivation of the seat occupancy detector is
impermissible (see comment in "area of use" of the
aBE), the installation of a RECaRO seat is also im-
permissible.
5.5. Failure of the child seat detector
a child seat detector on the passenger side can cause
malfunctions in the restraint systems after the RECaRO
seat has been installed.
deactivate the child seat detector before installing the
RECaRO seat.
When the child seat detector is deactivated, you must
not use a child seat facing away from the direction of
travel because the passenger airbag can no longer be
deactivated.
For this purpose, comply with the notices in your vehi-
cle's operating instructions.
5.6. Using child seats facing away from the direction
of travel
The passenger airbag must be deactivated in order to
use child seats facing away from the direction of travel.
Only use child seats facing away from the direction of
travel on the RECaRO seat if the passenger airbag is
deactivated.
deactivation of the passenger airbag may only be
done at an authorised workshop or – if installed – with
the aid of the key-operated switch for the passenger
airbag.
For this purpose, comply with the notices in your vehi-
cle's operating instructions.
5.7. Storing the removed standard seat
Store the removed standard seat with the side airbag as
follows:
Make sure that the side airbag of the standard seat is
disabled. See the instructions for the disabling kit.
Keep the standard seat in a place that is not acces-
sible to children.
do not connect the electrical connections on the
standard seat and on the side airbag to electrical volt-
age sources.
