DHCP is used on the local network to assign an IP address to ZAPTEC Pro and give the IP
address to the DNS server.
DNS
UDP port 53
ZAPTEC Pro uses DNS look up the IP addresses of the domains used to communicate ZAPTEC
Portal.
If the DHCP server does not specify a DNS server, or if it does not respond promptly, ZAPTEC
Pro uses the DNS server (or DNS servers) specified by the DHCP server, in addition to
Google (8.8.8.8) and Cloudflare (1.1.1.1) DNS servers.
NTP
UDP-port 123: no.pool.ntp.org
If the ZAPTEC Pro real-time clock is wrong, the charging station cannot authenticate itself with
ZAPTEC Portal. ZAPTEC Pro has to be connected to an NTP server so that the internal clock
can be updated. This communication takes place via UDP port 123.
The NTP server used by ZAPTEC Pro is no.pool.ntp.org.
The hostname used for NTP is static. It cannot be changed by the user at present.

2. Communication

Recommendations – 4G
Coverage
ZAPTEC Pro communicates via the Telenor 4G LTE-M network. This network will normally
have coverage in all areas that would not normally have regular 4G coverage. Therefore,
we recommend testing coverage at the installation site with your own mobile before installing
charging stations. A mobile with a Telenor SIM has to be used for accurate measurement.

Positioning
Try to position charging stations so that these will have the best possible positions for mobile
communication. Avoid positioning them in places where objects may affect coverage. Test the
coverage in a variety of situations, such as with the garage door open/closed.
All ZAPTEC Pro charging stations are supplied with 4G LTE-M as standard and will connect
to the network automatically when they are powered up. The power grid and other relevant
settings must still be configured by a fitter using the ZAPTEC App.

Every ZAPTEC Pro charging station comes with built-in 4G communication and needs an
active SIM in order to work. One charging station cannot share communication with others via
4G LTE-M.
