UK | 7 Safety instructions and warnings
Danger to pacemakers and defibril-
lators. Two very strong block mag-
nets for fixing the front plate (permanent
magnets) can influence the function of
pacemakers and implanted defibrillators.
Depending on the type, pacemakers can be
switched to a test mode and cause discom-
fort. It is possible that defibrillators may no
longer work. As a person with such a medical
device, maintain the safety distance from
magnets specified by the manufacturer. Warn
persons with such medical devices about
approaching magnets.
Risk of death from carbon mono-
xide when operating with air-ventila-
ted fireplaces. Ensure sufficient supply air
intake during operation with air-ventilated
fireplaces.
Note maximum permissible pressure diffe-
rence per residential unit. The consent of a
professional chimney sweep is needed in all
cases.
Ventilation units may only be installed in
rooms, apartments or housing units of a com-
parable size, in which air-ventilated fireplaces
are installed if
● a parallel operation of air-ventilated firepla-
ces for liquid or gaseous fuels and the
air-extracting equipment can be prevented
via safety devices, or
● the extraction of exhaust gas from the
air-ventilated fireplaces is monitored by
special safety equipment. In the case of
air-ventilated fireplaces for liquid or gase-
ous fuels, the fireplace or the ventilation
system must be switched off if the safety
device is triggered. In the case of air-venti-
lated fireplaces for solid fuels, the ventilati-
on system must be switched off if the safety
device is triggered.
In order for ventilation systems (equipped with
central ventilation units with heat recovery) to
be operated as intended, it must be possib-
le to close off any combustion air ducts or
exhaust gas ducts from air-ventilated firepla-
ces while the fireplaces are not being used.
For exhaust gas ducts of fireplaces for solid
42
fuels, the shut-off device may only be opera-
ted by hand. It must be possible to identify the
position of the shut-off device from the setting
of the operating handle. This is considered
to be fulfilled if a soot blocking device is
deployed.
Ventilation units must not be installed
if there are air-ventilated fireplaces in the
housing unit that are connected to exhaust
gas systems, which themselves have multiple
connections.
Explanations of safety devices
The safety device is checked for electronic
and functional safety using the safety objec-
tives of DVGWVP 121. A product standard
based on this exists in the form of E DIN
18841:2005-12.
Fire protection requirements
In terms of the fire protection installation
requirements for setting up the ventilation
system, note the state regulations, especially
the official guideline on fire protection require-
ments of ventilation systems in its most recent
version.
Exercise caution when handling
packaging materials.  Observe
applicable safety and accident prevention
requirements.  Store packaging material out
of the reach of children. If swallowed, there is
a danger of suffocation.
Vapours from enthalpy heat ex-
changer. Any odours originate from the
installed components and are harmless to
health. They disappear after a short while.
Development of odours in the beginning is
due to the new components and does not
constitute grounds for a complaint.
