Using the appliance
Steam ironing
1 Make sure that there is enough water in the water tank.
2 Select the recommended ironing temperature (see chapter
'Preparing for use').
3 Select the appropriate steam setting. Make sure that the steam
setting you select is suitable for the ironing temperature selected:
(fig. 8).
1 - 3 for moderate steam (temperature settings 2 to 3)

4 - 6 for strong steam (temperature settings 3 to MAX)

The iron will start steaming as soon as the set temperature has been

reached.
If the selected ironing temperature is too low (MIN to 2) water may

drip from the soleplate (see section 'Drip stop').
Ironing with Ionic DeepSteam (GC4440/GC4430 only)
When you use the ionic function during steam ironing, the steam
produced will be finer than during regular steam ironing. Fine steam
penetrates deeper into the fabric.This helps you to easily remove
stubborn creases.
1 Follow steps 1 to 3 in section 'Steam ironing'.
2 Switch the ionic function on by pressing the ionic steam button
('click') (fig. 9).

The ionic steam light goes on and you will hear a humming sound
(fig. 10).
3 You can now start ionic steam ironing.

The humming sound automatically stops when you put the iron
on its heel, although the ionic function stays on.
4 To deactivate the ionic function, press the ionic steam button
again ('click').You will continue ironing with normal steam.
