Taking the equipment off
See also the user instructions for fan unit SR 500/SR 500 EX or
compressed air attachment SR 507 whichever is used.
• Slacken the face seal (short hood SR 562) or the neck band
(long hood SR 561). In emergency situations, the hood can be
taken off with the rubber band tightened.
After use, the equipment must be cleaned and inspected.
See 5. below.

4. Technical specification

Classification according to ATEX-directive 94/9/EC and
IECEx scheme.
See under par.7, Approvals.
Shelf life
The equipment has a shelf life of 5 years from the date of manufacture.
Materials
• Hood: Tyvek 1443R, 200 µm
• Neck seal of SR 561: Cotton/modal/lycra
• Face seal of SR 562: Polyamide/lycra
• Breathing hose: Polyurethane (PU)
• Visor: 0.5 mm PETG
Temperature range
• Storage temperature: from -20 to +40 °C at a relative humidity
below 90 %.
• Service temperature: from -10 to +55 °C at a relative humidity
below 90 %.
Service temperature when used together with fan SR 500 EX is
-10 to +40 °C.
Weights
SR 561: Approx. 440 g, including hose.
SR 562: Approx. 410 g, including hose.
5. Maintenance
The person who is responsible for cleaning and maintenance of
the equipment must have received suitable training and be well
acquainted with work of this type.
Cleaning
Sundström cleaning tissues that clean and disinfect are recom-
mended for daily care.
If the equipment is more heavily soiled, use a soft brush or sponge
moistened with a solution of water and dishwashing detergent or
the like. Rinse the equipment and leave it to dry.
N.B. Never use a solvent for cleaning.
Storage
After cleaning, store the equipment in a clean and dry place at
room temperature. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight or other
heat sources.
Maintenance schedule
The schedule below represents the minimum requirements for
maintenance routines in order to ensure that the equipment will
always be in functional condition.

Spare parts
Always use genuine Sundström parts. Do not modify the equipment.
The use of non-genuine parts or modification of the equipment
may reduce the protective function and put at risk the approvals
granted to the product.
To change the sweat band
The sweat band is secured with Velcro tape to the forehead band.
Proceed as follows:
• Pull the sweat band off.
• Fit the Velcro tape with the rough side towards the forehead
band and the notch at the top.
To change the long SR 561 Tyvec hood
• Release the three press-studs at the top edge of the visor.
• Turn the hood inside out.
• Release the press-stud at the hose mounting and pull the hood
off the hose. Fig. 9.
• Place the new hood in front of you, with the visor facing up.
• Thread the hose from the inside of the hood, through the pas-
sage at the rear of the hood. After the hose has been inserted,
the head harness should be the right way up in the hood.
• Insert the hose coupling between the reinforcement lips in the
hose passage of the hood, and secure it with the press-stud.

• Insert the head harness into the hood and secure it with the
three press-studs at the top of the visor. Start with the centre
press-stud.
• Check that the head harness is straight in the hood and that the
hose passage of the hood is not twisted around the hose.
To change the short SR 562 Tyvec hood
• Release the face seal rubber bands secured to the forehead
band next to the Velcro tapes. Fig. 10.
• Remove the Velcro tapes.
• Release the three press-studs at the top edge of the visor.
• Lift the head harness out of the hood and withdraw the hose.
• Place the new hood in front of you, with the visor facing down-
wards.
• Thread the hose from the inside of the hood, through the passage
at the rear of the hood. During this operation, the head harness
should rest with the opening facing upwards. Fig. 11. Note that
the hose should not be drawn all the way through, and around
20 cm should be left on the inside of the hood. Fig. 12.
• Grip the front part of the head harness with one hand and insert
the head harness into the hood, first inserting the rear part fitted
with the hose. Fig. 13.
• Make sure that the Velcro tape is stretched under the forehead
band of the head harness (Fig. 14) and secure the hood by
means of the three press-studs at the top edge of the visor.
• Fold the Velcro tapes around the forehand band and secure
them as firmly as possible.
• Take the face seal rubber band and insert the knot into the
keyhole opening in the head harness. Secure it by pulling the
rubber band into the narrow part of the slot. Fig. 15.
• Check that the head harness is straight in the hood and that the
hose passage of the hood is not twisted around the hose.
To change the hose to the SR 561 long hood
• Release the three press-studs at the top edge of the visor.
• Turn the hood inside out.
• Release the press-stud at the hose mounting. Fig. 9.
• Turn the locknut a quarter of a turn and remove it. Fig. 16. Use
Polygrip pliers if the locknut is stiff to turn.
• Thread the pin on one side of the hose coupling down through
the recess in the head harness, turn the hose through 180
degrees and insert the second pin. Fig.17.
