10. Measurement operation: illumination measurement

In order to obtain precise measured values, the meter must be adjusted to the ambient temperature.
Allow the device to adjust to the ambient temperature after relocation.
Lengthy illumination measurements on light sources with high temperatures (for example,
incandescent lamps, etc.) can cause self-heating of the sensor or meter and thus a faulty measurement
if a measuring distance is small. In order to obtain precise measured values, remember the following
rule of thumb: The higher the generated temperature, the larger the measuring distance and the
shorter the measuring time.
Put the meter into operation. After turning on, the meter is always in the last selected measurement function. After
the display test, the display should show "LigHt" and then lux or ft-cd. If this is not the case, press and hold down the
"FUNCTION" button for approx. 3 seconds. The measurement function is switched.

a) Performing zero adjustment

Be sure to perform zero adjustment before each measurement in order to achieve a high measurement accuracy. Zero
adjustment should also be performed in between lengthy measurement series.
• Make sure that the sensor protective cap (23) completely covers the sensor.
• A measured value of 0 lux or 0.0 ft-cd must appear on the display. Zero adjustment must be performed if a different
value is displayed.
• To perform zero adjustment, simultaneously press and hold down the "▲" and "▼" buttons for approx. 3 seconds.
Zero adjustment is confirmed with a beep. The display is reset to zero. The meter is ready for use.
