Use
Preconditions for use with respiratory filters
Together with a respiratory filter, the full face mask forms a filtering
device. Observe the following preconditions if the full face mask is
used as a filtering device:
The ambient conditions (particularly the types and concentrations
of contaminants) must be known. Use corresponding respiratory
filters. If used for an unknown contaminant, only use self-
contained or air line breathing apparatuses.
Only use filtering devices if the air does not directly endanger the
health or life of the user.
It must be ensured that the ambient atmosphere cannot change to
the worse.
Do not use filtering devices if there is suspicion of contaminants
with low warning properties (low-odour, tasteless, no irritation of
eyes and airways). A decreasing protective effect of the filtering
device cannot be determined in this case.
Do not use filtering devices for entering unventilated tanks, mines,
canals, etc.
Do not use filtering devices in oxygen-enriched atmospheres.
The oxygen content of the ambient air must not fall below the
following limit values:
 at least 17 Vol% oxygen in all European countries except the
Netherlands, Belgium and the UK
 at least 19 Vol% oxygen in the Netherlands, Belgium, the UK,
Australia and New Zealand
 In other countries, observe the applicable national
regulations.

Preparations for use

 Use mask spectacles, if necessary.
 Loosen the harness as far as possible.
 Put the carrying strap around the neck and fasten it in the standby
position.
Donning the full face mask and checking the
functional integrity
 Remove the carrying strap.
 Pull the harness apart, then put your
chin into the chin cup of the mask body.
 Pull the harness over your head and
draw it backwards.
 Adjust the full face mask.
 Pull the straps until evenly tightened;
first the neck straps (1), then the
temple straps (2), finally the front strap
(3).
 Don the helmet, close the chin strap
and check that the helmet fits firmly on
the head. Tighten the chin strap if
necessary.
 Seal the connector with your hand and inhale until a negative
pressure is created.
 Hold your breath for a moment.
The negative pressure should remain. Otherwise, adjust the
straps.
 Repeat the last 2 steps twice.
 Seal the connector and exhale vigorously. The exhaled air must
be able to escape without obstruction. If not, see "Visual
inspection of the exhalation valve" on Page 17.
