1. BASIS

Depending on the settings & type of installation, the functions of the MDS CITY/
DIRECT Guard Unit are the following:

1.1. Door Entry Phone installations

MDS CITY or MDS DIRECT outdoor panels are used in this type of installations
together with audio decoders ref. 2424 and/or ref.2425 (4 and 8 outputs
respectively). See diagram 6.1 in page 16.
It allows to communicate the guard with the apartments, as well as capture calls
made from the outdoor panels to the apartments letting the guard to transfer them
to the apartment called or to another one.
Typical application: Standard audio/video installations with guard unit up to
10.000 telephones or monitors, grouped in a maximum of 10 blocks. General
Entrances are also permitted.

1.2. Radial Intercom system with Telephones

Audio decoders are exclusively used (ref. 2424 or ref. 2425) where the
telephones ref. 20440 or ref. 8044 are connected to. See diagram 6.2 in page
17.
It allows to communicate the telephones in the installation (up to 10.000) with
the Guard Unit.
Typical application: Intercommunication from a central station with several
rooms with telephone installed.

1.3. Radial Intercom system with Panels

Panel decoders ref. 2436 are used to connect standard CITY panels 1 line
ref. 8300 or ref. 8500 working as intercom station. Optionally, panels with 2
pushbuttons may be installed, using one of them to call to a telephone connected
to the panel. See diagram 6.3 in page 17.
It is not possible to use video panels.
It allows to communicate the guard with a maximum of 1.000 intercom panels.
Typical application: Intercom from a central station with several rooms (hands
free from them).
It is also possible to make mixed installations of Door Entry System
combined with Radial Intercom system with Panels.
Example: Condominiums of bungalows and apartment blocks with
telephones attached to standard decoders. The Panel Decoders system
with inner telephone would be used for the bungalows.
