4 Installation
• Route the signal and data lines as close as possible to ground surfaces (frames, metal rails,
cabinet sides) and not parallel to motor and power supply lines or other lines carrying high in-
terference levels.
• Make sure that no other users with high interference levels such as frequency converters,
solenoid valves, contactors, are connected to the encoder power supply.
NOTICE
Shielding and equipotential bonding
• Apply the cable shield on a large contact area - ideally 360°. Use shield terminals to this pur-
pose.
• Shield terminals are available depending on the cable diameter, order code
8.0000.4G06.0312 or 8.0000.4G06.0718).
• Pay attention to proper cable shield fastening.
• Preferably connect the shield on both sides with low impedance with the protective earth
(PE), e.g.on the encoder and/or on the evaluation device. In the event of potential differ-
ences, the shield must only be applied on one side.
• If shielding is not possible, appropriate filtering measures must be taken.
• If the protective earth should only be connected to the shield on one side, the facility manu-
facturer / operator must make sure with suitable means that no short-time overvoltages can
appear on the signal and supply voltage lines.
