Register the 5505 Cordless Handset
1. Place the handset with the display facing up in the 5505 Guest IP Phone
base.
The Line In Use indicator on the base starts flashing. The display on the
handset displays "No DN PROGRMED".
2. Enter the DN and registration PIN as DN#PIN#.
3. Press the Speaker key
4. Do not remove the handset from the 5505 Guest IP Phone during
registration.
5. After successful registration, the screen displays the Room Name/
Number. Note the charge status of the battery. (See "Charging the 5505
Cordless Handset" on page 4.)
See "Pairing 5505 Cordless Handsets" on page 5 to continue pairing additional
handsets.
Pairing 5505 Cordless Handsets
The 5505 Guest IP Phone supports up to four 5505 Cordless Handsets. One
handset is automatically pre-paired with the base station. You can pair the
remaining handsets by following the instructions below.
NOTE: Only one handset can be paired at a time. The pairing must be
completed before pairing the next handset.
1. On the 5505 Base Station, press down both the Volume Up/Down
indicators on the Volume key.
2. Then release the Volume Down (–) portion.
3. While the Volume Up key is kept pressed, enter 7247 (PAIR) on
the Base Station to start the pairing process. The Mute, Message
and Line in Use keys start flashing to indicate an empty device slot is
available for pairing.
4. On the handset, press MENU -> Settings -> OK -> Handset -> OK ->
Register HS?.
5. Enter the base station pairing PIN (default 0000) and press OK.
Registering ... appears on the handset.
NOTE: Mitel recommends using a Wireless PIN.
6. After successful pairing, an IDLE screen is displayed on the handset and
the indicators stop flashing on the base station.
7. To verify successful pairing, press the handset locator button (in the
handset pocket on the base station). This will cause all paired handsets to
start ringing.
8. Continue to pair the next handset, if necessary.
Deleting/Replacing 5505 Cordless Handsets
When all four handsets are paired and one/some/all of them are lost, new 5505
Cordless Handsets will need to be paired.
1. On the 5505 Base Station, press down both the Volume Up/Down
indicators on the Volume key.
2. Then release the Volume Down (–) portion.
3. While the Volume Up key is pressed, enter 867247 (UNPAIR) to
start the un-pairing process.
This procedure will un-pair all the paired handsets. After successful un-pairing,
Register HS will start flashing on the display of the handset. All user data,
including speed dials, room number, and the phone book entries will be deleted
on the handsets. You can now pair the new handsets following the procedure
"Pairing 5505 Cordless Handsets" on page 5.

Replacing the Designation Card (See Figure
The 5505 Guest IP Phone is shipped with the plastic lens and a fixed
designation card installed. You can remove the generic designation card and
replace it with a customer-specific one.
To remove and re-install the lens:
Slightly bend the lens on both the bottom and top. The lens is held in place
by several tabs.The lens will bend across its length and the tabs will pull out
and pop free from the cutout slots.
Lift off and remove the generic designation card and replace it with the
custom-supplied designation card.
Slightly bend the lens along its length, just enough to allow the edge tabs to
engage into the slots. The lens will snap into place.
Configuration Requirements
You must complete the following configuration before the 5505 Guest IP Phone
and 5505 Cordless Handset are fully functional:
1. License, program, and register the Mitel 5505 Guest IP Phone with the
communications platform. Refer to your communications platform
documentation for instructions.
NOTE: Communication platform documentation, the 5505 Guest IP Phone
Administration Guide, phone user guides, and phone installation guides are
available on the Mitel Customer Documentation web site at http://
edocs.mitel.com.
Connecting the Charging Cradle (Optional)
The 5505 Guest IP Phone can have up to three additional 5505 Cordless
Handsets with chargers. The additional 5505 Cordless Handsets and cradle
power adapters must be ordered separately.
1. Slide the flat plug from the power supply into the charging cradle until you
hear a click.
2. Plug the power adapter into the plug socket.
1. If you need to disconnect the plug from the charging cradle, press the
Release button.
2. Disconnect the plug.
