17 Repairing

► File each cutter with a round file so that the following
points are observed:
– Round file matches the chain pitch.
– File from the inside to the outside of the cutter.
– Hold the file at right angle to the guide bar.
– Maintain a filing angle of 30°.
► File down the depth gauges with a flat file so that they are
level with the STIHL filing gauge and parallel to the service
mark. The STIHL filing gauge must match the chain pitch.

17.1 Repairing the Garden Pruner, Battery and

Charger

The garden pruner, guide bar, saw chain, battery and
charger are not user serviceable.
► If the garden pruner, guide bar or saw chain are damaged:
Do not use your garden pruner, guide bar or saw chain,
and contact your STIHL servicing dealer for assistance.
► If the battery has a malfunction or is damaged: Replace
the battery.
► If the charger has a malfunction or is damaged: Replace
the charger.

► If the connecting cable has a malfunction or is damaged:
Do not use the charger and have connecting cable
replaced by a STIHL servicing dealer.
