A brief medical introduction
The temperature of the skin, which is achieved by heat application depends on the effectiveness of the heat defense reaction of the skin and
the flow of heat (= infrared radiator). The heat defensive reaction of the skin results in an increase of the blood flow, the blood cools the
skin and dissipates the heat. Also, infrared radiation can not penetrate into the body substantially. Each spectral component of the infrared
radiation is absorbed by the skin and converted to heat. Therefore, even implants that are located just under the skin are not directly heated
or affected by infrared radiation. However, since the heat transfer works without contact by infrared radiation, the heat defensive reaction
of the skin is the least affected. In our skin the heat is distributed by direct heat conduction and so reaches the blood vessels. In the body
heat is almost exclusively transported and distributed by the blood.The better the blood circulation, and thereby the heat dissipation, the
more heat can be supplied to the skin without reaching critical temperature ranges. Knowing these correlations you can use the infrared
cabin to some extent, to control the distribution of heat in the body and the body's reactions. If the skin perfusion is low, you have a higher
increase in your skin temperature and greater direct heat conduction into the tissue. If the blood circulation is good, you have a lower skin
temperature and less direct thermal conduction into the tissue, but more heat transport through body. An initial higher thermal stimulus is an
adrenergic stimulus that releases hormones that activate the body. Mild increases in temperature and reductions result in -to the contrary-
calming down the organism. From these contexts - activating and calming as well as more locally and more acting on the whole body - the
heat distribution between core body (internal organs) and body shell (muscles, connective tissue, bones, joints, and mucous membranes) as
well as the reactions of the body can be influenced within certain limits. These profiles can be derived from this knowledge:

The program „heat load" is an optimal preparation for sports
or subsequent treatment (for example massage). The relatively
short, intense heat input is an adrenergic stimulation, activates
and provides heat to the distribution in the whole body. In con-
nection with a prompt, sport-specific preparation, the program
„heat load" may reduce the risk of injury and improve intra-
muscular coordination. Moreover exercises of physiotherapeutic
concepts can work out more efficiently.
