2.3.3. Attaching and changing the probe
When you attach the probe to the Wile-26, first
insert the connector pin of the probe into the hole
at the top of the W-26, then firmly tighten the
locking nut to the unit. When attaching a probe,
avoid bending the connector pin.
The W-253 dish type probe is secured to the
moisture meter by turning the whole probe. There
is no locking nut for this unit.
You may now electronically set the W-26 for the
model of probe installed. Merely depress once the
ON /OFF button and choose with the MENU button
the probe type and approve the selection with OK.
Your selection will remain in memory until you
require a different probe type.
When the probe selection is ready the meter will
automatically go to the next step: in bale
measurement to density setting and in loose hay
measurement into the test phase.
2.3.4 Setting the bale density
Select density with the Menu button and press OK.
Choose the density of your bale from the areas
80....250kg/m3. The meter will save your selection
for the next measurements. If the density is more
than 300kg/m3 you can make a correction of -1%
to the result. If the density is 400kg/m3 or more the
result can be adjusted by -2%.
Tips for adjusting the density setting:
The density of the bale affects the result of
moisture measurement and therefore the density
setting should be in the right level to get a reliable
result. As a general rule of thumb it could be stated
that the density in small bales varies significantly
depending on the baler and its settings.
