2. HOW TO USE
2.0 General
The meter has two buttons. ON/OFF button for
starting/shutting down and a MENU button for
confirming the chosen function.
2.1. Quick guide
A. Attach the probe to the W-26. W-251 or W-252
for baled hay and W-253 for loose hay.
B. Depress the Power button and check that the
displayed number corresponds to the attached
probe. 1 and 2 for baled hay and 3 for loose hay.
For the bale scale, check the density setting and
change if necessary.
C. Choose "density" with MENU button and press
the OK button, then choose the desired density
according to your bale. Finally repress the OK
button.
D. Start measurement....display will show WAIT a
moisture reading and temperature will be shown
on the display. (if the temp. probe is connected)
E. When measuring the temperature, push the
probe into the bale, start the meter and choose
TEMPERATURE function with the MENU and
repress OK.
2.2. Before use
- Read instructions carefully before use. Especially
when starting to measure hay in the beginning of a
new harvesting season.
-When doing average calculations check that the
meter has no moisture reading in its memory. Start
the meter and choose AVERAGE with the MENU
button. If readings e.g. 19,2% and A#3 appears on
the display the meter has in its memory an earlier
measured average and the mean value has been
19,2%. To clear this, push the ERASE button. If
the memory is empty a reading A#0 will appear in
the display. Since moisture contents may vary
substantially from one forage plant to the next
within the same field, you should take several
readings when sampling individual bales to
achieve optimum accuracy. You should take
several readings on bales in varying areas of
terrain within the same field, i.e., hills, low lying
valleys, fence rows, etc.
