unattended can be fatal or
cause serious injury.
To prevent injury, lower mowers to the ground,
disengage all drives, engage parking brake and
stop engine before making any adjustments.
1. Tractor tires and caster wheels must be properly
inflated. The cutting height is directly related to the
radius of the tire - Section 7.18.
2. Set the cutting height of the front mower to 5-1/2 in.
(140 mm).
3. Rotate all blades so that one end of the blade is
pointing forward. (J- Figure 10B)

10.2 BLADE INSPECTION

1. The blades must be examined regularly to insure
they are in good operating condition. Blades showing
any bends, cracks or grooves must be replaced.
2. Any of the above conditions can cause a piece of
the blade to break away and be hurled from the
mower; causing very serious injury to bystanders or
property damage.
3. A bent blade could have a microscopic crack (A)
that can grow and cause a piece of the blade to
break. Bent blades will also create vibration and
other stress on the machinery.
4. Dust or sand particles can wear a groove in the
blade (B) between the air vanes and the flat portion
of the blade. Continued use will rapidly develop the

4. Measure from the ground to point (J) with respect to
height at point (K). Point (K) must be 1/8 in., (3 mm)
higher than at point (J).
5. To compensate for any difference in height, add
shims (W). Remove snap ring (T) and pin (U) then
remove hardware (R) and bumper pad (S). Add
shims as required between the bumper pad and the
lift arm. Reassemble all hardware.
6. Once the mower has been properly leveled, the
cutting height may be readjusted without changing
the shims. It may be necessary to readjust the
shims if there is a change to the tires.
