2 MP 370 in Hazardous Locations
Complying to Zones 2/22
2.1 Validity
This supplement applies to the use of the MP 370 operating unit in
hazardous locations complying to Zones 2/22.
These warnings only apply to devices which have the
corresponding Type of Protection identification on the rating plate.
2.2 Permissible Area of Use
The MP 370 fulfills the design requirements stipulated in EN
50021:1999 concerning electrical devices for use in hazardous
locations complying to Zone 2 and EN 50281-1-1:1998 concerning
electrical devices for use in hazardous locations complying to Zone
22, taking the following conditions into account:
•
The devices must be installed using original components
(seals, tensioning devices).
•
Installation must fulfill the IP54 degree of protection.
•
The installation housing for the devices must comply with the
design requirements stipulated in EN 50021 Category 3 G and
EN 50281-1-1 Category 3 D.
•
If storage media is used, such as CF cards and PC cards, they
must be secured using the mounting equipment supplied.
•
Plug connectors must be secured using the locking elements
provided.
2.3

Degree of Protection

The operating unit must be installed in such a way that at least the
IP54 degree of protection is guaranteed. The IP65 degree of
protection can only be achieved on the front side when
•
the seal on the front panel of the MP 370 is fitted perfectly,
•
the original installation components (tensioning device, seal)
are used and
•
the panel thickness on the installation cut-out is not less than
2.5 mm.
