accessories may also be potentially

3. Starting Up and Operating
Safety

3.1 Place of work

The operator requires a working space of at
least 1.5 sq. m. No other working location
should overlap into this area, otherwise a risk
of injury could ensue due to movements of the
rib saw.

3.2 Installation

Only connect the rib saw to
the power supply when
switched off.
Caution!
Trip hazard!
Lay compressed air lines
outside of the working area.
The rib saw leaves the factory ready to
operate. It is powered by compressed air.
Only operate the rib saw with clean,
anhydrous, oiled air!
To do this, connect the device to a
maintenance unit equipped with filter pressure
reducer, water separator and oiler.
The supply line for connection of a machine
must be min. ¾".
The air supply from the maintenance unit must
be fed via the compressed air hose (min. clear
width 13 mm) from the top.
The filter pressure reducer should be installed
near the rib saw where possible.
Blow through the pressure hose prior to
connection to clear any dirt!
Set an operating pressure of max. 7 bar at
the filter pressure reducer.

3.2.1 Connecting to the air supply
duct
The compressed air hose of the rib saw is
connected to the maintenance unit (filter
pressure reducer) (2) by means of a threaded
fitting (1). In this case, pay attention that the
maintenance unit is assembled in the following
sequence: water separator (3), pressure
manometer (4), oil mister (5).
Fig. 1:
Connecting to the air supply duct
The maintenance unit must be set to 1-2 drops
of oil per minute (or one drop of oil per approx.
15 cuts) to ensure correct lubrication of the
compressed air motor.
3.2.2 Filter pressure reducer
The air from compressed air systems is usually
contaminated and has accumulated moisture.
Therefore, install a filter pressure reducer
equipped with water separator between the
compressed air system and tool. This not only
controls the operating pressure but cleans and
drains the compressed air. This improves the
use and increases the service life of the rib
saw considerably.
You can purchase a suitable filter pressure
reducer on request from our sales department
at Schmid & Wezel.
