Operating section (front)

a REC START (recording start) button
Press to start recording. Press it again to stop recording.
The effect is the same as that of the REC button on the lens.
b SHUTTER switch
Set to ON to use the electronic shutter. Push to SELECT to
switch the shutter speed setting. When this switch is
operated, the new setting appears on the viewfinder screen
for about three seconds.
When "Select" in "Shutter" of the Camera menu is set to
"Step" and the switch is pushed to SELECT, the shutter
speed is switched, and when "Select" in "Shutter" of the
Camera menu is set to "Continuous" and the switch is
pushed to SELECT, the current shutter speed is displayed,
and the shutter speed is switched by turning the MENU
knob.
c MIC (microphone) LEVEL control
Adjusts the input level of audio channels 1, 2, 3, and 4.
d AUTO W/B BAL (automatic white/black balance
adjustment) switch
Activates the automatic white/black balance adjustment
functions.
• WHITE: Adjust the white balance automatically. If the
WHITE BAL switch (see page 34) is set to A or B, the
white balance setting is stored in the corresponding
memory. If the WHITE BAL switch is set to PRST, the
automatic white balance adjustment function does not
operate.
• BLACK: Adjust the black set and black balance
automatically.
If you push the switch to WHITE once more during the
automatic white balance adjustment, the adjustment is
cancelled and the white balance setting returns to the
original setting.
If you push the switch to BLACK once more during the
automatic black balance adjustment, the adjustment is
cancelled and the black balance setting returns to the
original setting.
e MENU knob
Changes the item selection or a setting within the menu
(see page 44).

Operating section (side)

a GAIN/EI selector
Switches the gain of the video amplifier to match the
lighting conditions during shooting. The gain
corresponding to the H, M, and L settings can be selected
on the menu of the PMW-F55/F5. (For details on the
setting, refer to the operating instructions of the PMW-
F55/F5.)
Switches to the 3 types of EI values preset while in Cine EI
mode.
b MENU ON/OFF switch
Used to display the menu on the viewfinder screen or the
test signal screen. Each time the switch is pushed down,
the menu screen is turned on and off.
c ASSIGN. (assignable) 6/7/8 switches
Assign your desired functions to the switches on
"Assignable Button" of the System menu.
"Off" is assigned to the ASSIGN. 6/7/8 switches as the
factory default setting. The ASSIGN. 6/7/8 switches are
provided with an indicator to show whether a function is
assigned to the switch (on) or not (off). (For details on the
setting, refer to the operating instructions of the PMW-
F55/F5.)
d ASSIGN. (assignable) 5 switch
Assign your desired function to the switch on "Assignable
Button" of the System menu.
"Color Bars" (color bar output signal) is assigned to the
ASSIGN. 5 switch as the factory default setting. (For
details on the setting, refer to the operating instructions of
the PMW-F55/F5.)
