Voltage testers must be clean and dry.
3. Start-Up
Your instrument is supplied with a solar cell and an
integrated
ProfiSafe 1 is ready for operation at any time and
does not require replacement batteries.

3.1 Function test

To test the functions and your own energy source,
put the test electrodes together. The rectangular
green LED (continuity test) lights up permanently
for approximately 5 seconds. After 5 seconds all 9
LEDs flash up five times. Then the device swit-
ches off automatically.
Attention!
If one of the LED does not light up, don't use the
device any longer.
Note!
If the green LCD, after putting the test electrodes
together, flickers or doesn't light up, you have to
recharge the storage battery (see chapter 6).
4. Testing

4.1 General Instructions

Voltage readings have always priority. If there is
no voltage (>3.6 V), then the ProfiSafe 1 is in con-
tinuity test mode.
4.2 Testing Voltage and Polarity
Attention!
The maximum allowable on-time for voltage
testing is 30 seconds.
Alternating Voltage
Both lower 12 V LEDs (±) light up alternatively and
the LED chain located above lights up according
to the connected voltage when both test electro-
des are placed on a.c. voltage within the nominal
voltage range.
Direct Voltage and Polarity
When both test electrodes are placed on d.c. vol-
tage within nominal voltage range, one of the
lower 12 V LEDs (±) and the LED chain located
above lights up according to the connected volta-
ge. Polarity is determined as follows: The "+" 12 V
electrode lights up when the test probe marked "+"
is connected to the positive pole.
4.3 Tests with the Accessible Electrode
The ProfiSafe 1 is equipped with an accessible
electrode "Pol-L1-Sensor", and a triangular LED
