4. Instrument functions
4.1 Selecting the type of measurement
The HBF 410 is turned on and off using the I/O key. When turned on, the
measured value reading is displayed. When the symbol '((•))' is displayed
above the measured value reading, it indicates that the moisture meter is set
to the 'dielectric measurement' mode, which is carried out via the probe at
the top of the Wöhler HBF 410. Otherwise, the Wöhler HBF 410 is set to the
'resistance measurement' mode via the needles at the base of the instrument.
To switch between to the two measurement modes, hold the SEL key
pressed down (approx. 4 seconds) until 'CH' (change) is displayed. The other
measurement mode is available once the key is released.
4.2 Selecting the material code
It is possible to set the material to be measured using the HBF 410 by means
of the material codes in both measurement modes. To do so, hold the SEL
key pressed down (approx. 2 seconds) until 'Cdxx' and above that 's' are
displayed; here 'xx' represents a sequence of digits. You can then select the
correct code using the keys '

measured value reading is again displayed.
4.2.1 Material code for resistance measurements (needles)
The correct display of the measured moisture content of materials depends
on the type of material and other factors. For resistance measurements, 10
different material codes 'Cd00' to 'Cd09' can be assigned on the moisture
meter in conjunction with the following table of material codes:
