3 Installation WARNING Installation of this equipment must be performed in a non-dusty environment with the following characteristics: • temperature: 5 °C to 40 °C • m aximum relative humidity: 80 % for temperatures up to 31 °C decreasing linearly to 50 % at 40 °C DANGER During mounting, wiring, configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of this equipment there shall be no live voltage present in the combiner box. Failure to skip this step creates a life hazard to the persons involved due to the ~1 kV voltages typically found in PV systems.
3.1 Mounting requirements This product is meant to be mounted to an EN 50022 top hat rail (such as Weidmuller’s TS 35 range) inside a PV combiner box fulfilling IEC 61439-2 (or equivalent local standard) and only accessible to authorized people. The enclosure of the combiner box shall fulfill IEC 62208 (or equivalent local standard) to ensure protection against direct contact, indirect contact and spread of fire. The IEC 60529 ingress protection code of the combiner box shall be at least IP54. The IEC 62262 degree of protection against external mechanical impacts of the combiner box shall be at least IK09 (this equipment has an IK07 rating but once mounted inside an IK09 enclosure there is no realistic risk of damaging it due to external impacts).
3.2 Wiring of PV inputs The “PV side” consists of X1/X4, X2, and the two negative copper busbars. X1 and X4 are two negative PV current input blocks, each one internally paralleled to its corresponding negative copper busbar. X2 is the positive PV voltage input. DANGER There must be a way to isolate this equipment from the dangerous voltages of the PV modules and the DC input of the inverter.
Seite 48
WARNING Wrong torque or insufficient wire cross section create fire and electrical shock hazards in addition to shortening the service life of the product. Wiring of the two negative copper busbars The two negative copper busbars collect and parallel the current from the individual negative PV current inputs. All four hex nuts in the negative copper busbars must be properly tightened regardless of whether there is a wire connected to it or not. Always wire the negative copper busbars whose input terminal blocks do contain wires.
WARNING Surge protection is required on the PV side. Failure to observe this requirement will create an electric shock hazard as the double insulation barrier could break down due to excessive voltage surges. Wiring of the positive PV voltage input Connect the positive polarity of the PV inputs to the X2 connector pin marked with a plus (+) sign (the other pin in X2 is not internally connected).

3.4 Wiring of power supply inputs The power supply input of this equipment is floating with regards to the rest of the circuit. This is accomplished by means of a dedicated DC/DC converter which provides a double insulation barrier between the power supply input and the PV-side terminals. From the user perspective this means full safety even under severe surges. This equipment must be powered by an external, galvanically isolated and dedicated power supply, normally mounted inside the same combiner box where the Transclinic resides. These are the recommended Weidmüller power supplies:...
Seite 54
WARNING The power supply cable shall have the right length so that it does not apply a mechanical strain to this equipment. Failure to observe this requirement creates an electrical shock hazard and may also damage this equipment.
