Important instructions for maintenance

Security instructions
- All maintenance work must only be performed by qualified and trained technical
personnel familiar with the dangers associated with the equipment. The
customer is responsible for ensuring the qualifications of personnel.
- Instructions and data concerning maintenance work must be observed and
followed without fail.
- For all maintenance work observe the following:
- Place the Defensor Mk4 steam humidifier out of operation as described in
section 4.3.
- Disconnect unit from mains supply and protect from inadvertent switching on.
- Indicate externally that work is being carried out on the unit.
- Use original spare-parts from Defensor exclusively for replacing defective
components.
First maintenance
The first maintenance should be performed after 500 operating hours with normal
water quality (hardness: 8 - 15 °dH) or correspondingly earlier with poorer water
quality.
Maintenance intervals
No exact details can be given concerning further maintenance intervals, since they
depend on water quality and the volume of steam produced. The frequency with
which the unit must be serviced, however, will certainly be determined from
experience with operation of the Defensor Mk4. The following table shows some
figures from experience:

The maintenance intervals can be preselected. Relevant details can be found in the
separate documentation "Electrical installation" (red sheets).
The fault indicator flashes (at 2 second intervals) following expiration of the selected
maintenance interval to indicate that maintenance is due.
