5.1

Maintenance intervals

The specified intervals are Dräger recommendations. Differing
national regulations must be observed where appropriate.
For information on maintenance work, refer to the relevant
Instructions for Use of the facepiece, ventilation unit, automatic
switch-over valve and compressed air breathing apparatus.

Originally lead sealed chemical protective suits must
only be checked after five years. After this period or
when the seal is broken, chemical protective suits
must be serviced in accordance with specified
intervals.

Applies to chemical protective suits stored on vehicles without
carrier bag.
The interval is extended to two years for chemical protective suits
stored in the CPS storage and transportation bag.

Optional during the incoming goods inspection of an originally lead
sealed chemical protective suit.

Dräger recommends keeping a record of all
maintenance work (see chap. 9 on page 41).

The following examinations are mandatory: the chemical
protective suit must be disposed of in case of defects.

Visual examination of the chemical
protective suit
No holes, cuts or abrasions must be found on the outside
of the chemical protective suit.
The seam tape must not become detached.
The visor seal must be undamaged and the visor itself must
be clean.
Gloves and boots or socks must be undamaged.
The zipper mechanism and its cover must be undamaged.
The suit valves must be free and undamaged.
The suit material must show no signs of abrasion (white
lines) or ozone damage (white chalky dots). The coating
must not become detached from the fabric.
Cleaning and disinfection of the chemical
protective suit
WARNING
!
If the chemical protective suit is equipped with a
Silvershield glove combination, the glove combination
must be removed, disposed of and replaced with a
new glove combination. No assurance has been made
that the material will be able to withstand repeated
chemical exposure.
Glove combination 1 does not need to be removed
during manual cleaning.
CAUTION
!
Do not use solvents (e.g., acetone, alcohol) or
cleaning agents containing abrasive particles for
cleaning and disinfecting. Strictly follow the prescribed
procedures. Only use the listed cleaning agents and
disinfectants. Other detergents, doses and exposure
times can cause damage to the product.
Undiluted agents are harmful when in direct contact
with eyes or skin. Therefore, use protective goggles
and protective gloves when working with these agents.

The cleaning and disinfecting agents may not be used
in all countries. Observe country specific regulations.
