3-1 / 3-2
'Wire feed rate' potentiometer Control knob
In single-knob control mode, the potentiometer control knob must be set to marked central position.
A skilled operator will now be able to adjust the wire feed rate as required by clockwise or anti-clockwise
turns.
With the program selector switch on (1) "manual", the suitable wire feed rate can be individually adjusted
within its total range, irrespective of the welding voltage.
4-1 / 4-2
'Spot welding time' potentiometer control knob
For infinitely variable regulation of the spot welding time ranging from 0.5 to 5 sec.
5
Selector switch for 2-cycle/ 4-cycle operation / spot welding / wire feed guiding
For selecting the desired torch trigger program, i.e. 2-cycle or 4-cycle operation, spot welding or wire
feed guiding function.
- - -
2-cycle operation for short weld seams and tack-welds
The welding process continues as long as the torch trigger is kept pressed down.
4-cycle operation for long weld seams
The welding process is initiated upon the first press of the torch-trigger and terminated by
pressing again.
Spot welding
In spot welding two overlapping thin sheets are pressed together and joined by spot-type
welding, using a special gas nozzle. To obtain flat weld points, a high welding voltage will be
required in dependence on the sheet thickness.
The welding process is started by pressing the torch trigger and terminates as set on the
"spot welding time" potentiometer (8).
The next welding process is started by pressing the torch trigger again.
Premature release of the torch trigger will cause immediate stop of the welding process.
Quick wire-feed guiding without voltage
With the torch trigger pressed, the wire feed motor runs at the speed set on the "wire feed
rate" potentiometer (6). This allows the wire to be fed through the hose pack without creep-in
function.

Main fuse primary T1A
7
Temperature fault indicator
is lit in the event of thermic overload. No possibility of starting the welding process by means of the torch
trigger. With the fan running, the unit will be operable again after approx. 5 minutes.
8-1 / 8-2
central connection socket for torch hose pack
9-1 / 9-2
connection socket for workpiece cable
Other possible control functions:
Wire creep-in
The wire creep-in function causes the wire to advance at reduced speed at the instance of starting the weld
process. Not until the wire touches the work piece, succeeded by arc ignition, does the control unit switch over to
the required wire feed rate. This ensures better ignition of the arc at the start of the welding process.
In the event of close restarting of an interrupted welding process, the end of the welding wire is still burning hot
and ignites well. To enable quick restarting without unnecessary delay, the wire creep-in function is now out of
service.
Automatic wire-burn-back control
Upon selection of the welding voltage grade, adequate wire burn-back time will adjust itself automatically.
