1. THE INFORMATION INCLUDED IN THIS MANUAL REFERS TO THE FOLLOWING PRODUCTS
To ensure the use of certified configuration of the Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR); refer also to users' manual for the AIRBELT,
the ZEPHYR and the COMPACT AIR series (COMPACT AIR 200 P/N A150401, COMPACT AIR P/N A150102 and COMPACT AIR P/N
A150140).
According to EN 12941:1998, EN 12941/A1:2003 and EN 12941/A2:2008, a complete powered respirator system consists of:

2. FIELD OF APPLICATION AND CONDITIONS FOR USE
The powered respirator system is used in a working area where protection is required for respiratory organs, face and head against
harmful particles, mists, vapours and gases. When the air hood is connected to the Powered Air Purifying Respirator, via the supply
hose, and equipped with Honeywell filters, the filtered air flows via the inlet duct at the front of the hood, leaving the hood via the face
collar or the neck bib. Disposable visors fitted on some models are fitted against the hood window and can be removed when polluted,
by pulling them out of the clamp in the direction shown as "pull".
2.1. Limitation of usage
•
The system is not suitable for working in areas with: intense heat radiation, open fires, risk of explosion, an oxygen level lower
than 17% or when extremely high concentrations of hazardous matter causing an immediate health risk are present.
•
Upon extreme exertion, a temporary negative pressure may occur in the air hood, resulting in a reduction of the protection factor
of the system.
•
Air speeds in excess of 2 m/sec can affect the protection factor of air hoods with a face collar.
•
The ambient usage temperature should be between the limits of -10° C and +50° C.
•
The system may be used solely by trained personnel, who are also fully aware of the hazards applicable to the work being carried
out.
•
Filters shall not be fitted directly to the helmet/hood.
•
The air hoods -vl can only be used in combination with the listing, in the appropriate user manuals for Honeywell Powered Air
Purifying Respirators, or Honeywell filters. See filter manual P/N 1788266.
•
The EN 14387 classification of the filters should not be confused with the EN 12941 Classification, when selecting a filter type.
•
The helmets EUROMASKI and TIGERHOOD can also be used for welding application (arc welding and cutting).
2.2. Prior to use
Check the warning device if applicable (e.g. COMPACT AIR 200 P/N A150401)
Put the flow check device at the end of the breathing hose, switch on the blower unit. Block the inlet of the powered unit till the point that
the (filter resistance) warning has kicked in. The ball of the mechanical flow checker should be at the 170 litres per minute marker or
above the marker. If not the see section 5 maintenance for repairs.
Ensure that the system was cleaned correctly after the last use, disinfected and checked in accordance with paragraphs 4 and 5.
Connect the supply hose from the Powered respirator to the rear of the air hood. Buckle the belt round the body and switch on the
respirator. Adjust the head band to the correct length. Then fit the air hood on the head. With air hoods with a face collar, draw the face
collar back under the chin, so that the hood is sealed off, and then tighten the belt. For other types of hood, close the neck bib in order to
assist in the sealing.
2.3. During use
Leave the working area immediately if the air supply is interrupted or the breathing resistance increases.
2.4. After use
After leaving the working area, take off the hood, disconnect the supply hose and switch off the powered respirator. Using a brush or a
cloth, clean loose residue and dirt from the components. Clean and inspect the components, according to the instructions given in
paragraphs 4 and 5. When connecting and disconnecting, take care that no contamination enters the open hose connections.

3. CLEANING AND DISINFECTING

After each use, clean the air hood using soap and water or the recommended Honeywell EPI U-S 19a cleaning and disinfecting agent
(Part no. 1779065). Subsequently, rinse thoroughly with clean water (do not use any solvents). The face collar or neck bib can be
washed in a washing machine, using a mild detergent at 30° C. Using a disinfectant (e.g. Incidur from H enkel), clean the inner surfaces
of the air hood. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions.
For reasons of hygiene. the air hood should preferably be worn by the same person. Finally, using a dry cloth, dry all the metal
components, to avoid corrosion. When cleaning, take care not to inhale hazardous matter that is released during cleaning.
4. MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION OF AIR HOODS
