5. Installation and Start-Up

5.1 General

To avoid damage to the pump during installation and oper-
ation, the following points must be observed:
The installation work must be performed by qualified
personnel in compliance with safety regulations.
Before installation, the pump should be inspected for
damage.
For level control, pay attention to the minimum water
coverage.
Air pockets in the pump housing and piping are to
be avoided (through appropriate venting devices or a
slight tilting of the pump).
Protect the pump from freezing.
The power lines of the pump must be installed in
such a way that safe operation and easy assembly/
disassembly is provided.
Carry the pump on the handle and drain it into the
conveying medium with a rope or chain, not the ca-
ble.
If the ground is muddy, place stones or similar under
the pump to prevent sinking.
When using a hose, pay attention to kink-free laying.

5.2 Installation

Danger due to falling!
When installing the pump and accessories, you must
be working directly on the edge of the pool! Careless-
ness or wrong shoes can cause falls. Risk of death!
Take all precautions to prevent this.
The pressure line or the hose must be attached on the
pressure socket of the pump and attach the pressure line.
When using a tube or pipe fitting with thread, the hose
nozzle can be cut on the hose connection of the pump.
In order to ensure optimum flow rate, the pressure line
should have a diameter of at least ¾ „. To prevent a return
flow of water when the pump is turned off, a flap trap can
also be mounted in the discharge line. The discharge line
must be fitted free of tension.
When using a hose, make sure that it is not kinked. When
using accessories, such as a quick coupling or similar,
make sure that it is sealed with Teflon tape, since a leak
reduces the capacity of the pump.
Mount the pump with rope or chain on the handle, and
lower it into the medium to be pumped. With a muddy
ground, place stones or other similar items under the
pump to prevent subsidence.

5.3. Start-Up

This chapter contains all important instructions for the
operator to ensure safe commissioning and operation of
the machine. The following information must be strictly
observed and reviewed:
Type of installation
Operating mode
Minimum submergence/maximum immersion depth
After an extended down time, this data must be also
checked and any detected deficiencies must be rectified!
To avoid damage to persons or property during operation
of the machine, the following points must be observed:
The commissioning of the machine must be carried out
only by qualified and trained personnel in accordance with
the safety instructions.
The entire staff working with the machine must re-
ceive, read and understood the operating instruc-
tions.
This machine is only suitable for the use of the spec-
ified operating conditions.

5.4. Preparatory Work

The machine has been designed and mounted according
to state of the art, so that under normal operating con-
ditions it operates reliably and has a long operating life.
However, this requires, the compliance with all require-
ments and instructions.
Cable routing - no loops, with some slack
Check temperature of the medium and immersion
depth
If a hose is used on the pressure side, it must be
flushed with clean water before use to ensure that
deposits will not cause blockages
The pump housing must be flooded, i.e. it must be
completely filled with the medium and no air should
be inside. The bleeding can be done by appropriate
venting devices in the system or, if available, by vent-
ing screws at the discharge nozzle.
Check accessories, piping, hanging device for tight
and correct fit

5.5. Electrical

When laying and selecting electrical cables and when con-
necting the motor, the relevant local and VDE regulations
must be observed.
Danger from electric current!
Improper use of electricity may result in death! All
pumps with bare cable ends must be connected by a
qualified electrician.

5.6. Switch on Modes

Switch on modes with plug
Insert the plug into the intended outlet.
5.6.1. After Switch On
During start-up, the rated current is temporarily exceeded.
After completion of this operation, the operating current
should no longer exceed the rated current. If the motor
does not start immediately, it must be switched off at
once. Before switching it on again, all switching paus-
es must be observed according to the specifications. If
another fault occurs, the machine must be shut down
immediately. A new switching may be started only after
troubleshooting.
The following points should be checked:
Switching frequency and pauses (see technical spec-
ifications)
Minimum water coverage, level control, dry run pro-
tection
Smooth running operation
